| Subject: | Fender Highway 1 VS my USA Deluxe Stratocaster |
| Quality:
| This guitar is built as well as any I own. |
| Sound:
| The alnico 3's are a great combo between vintage and modern sounding. Cleans are really clear, no boomy bass, no icepick highs, and with the greasebucket config., you can roll off some highs and have a great jazz tone, with OD or distortion the alnicos just rock. No more hum than any of my USA Fenders. Kills the Delta tone pickups by far, only my old '74 with Fat 50's sounds better...and that says ALOT!!! |
| Reliability:
| The thing is a Fender, solid as a rock, I have a 1968 that is bone stock and plays great, a '74 thats modded but still plays great, and a few newer ones that are solid... I've torn this one apart and checked everything, it's flawless, should last forever. |
| Overall:
| The highway one out performs my 2006 Deluxe Strat hands down, I have always wanted to refret one of my strats (I have 5) with extra jumbo frets, the jumbo frets are not x-tra jumbo, but they are great, they make playing and bending a breeze, by far the best sounding and playing stock Fender you can buy....period. |
| Playability and Feel:
| Plays as well as any strat, I don't own or play any MIMs', so I can't elaborate on that , but of my USA's, it feels on par to most and better than some. It's cool to have a 70's headstock without the U neck. Jumbo frets, I wish they were extra jumbo, but these work fine. The stock electronics are great, I won't change anything on this guitar. |
| Tone:
| The tone is clean and clear, the pickups are slightly hotter than stock USA's, perfect with the bigger frets and fast neck. The greasebucket system is great at rolling off the highs, the bass doesn't increase at all, perfect. |
| Finish:
| The finish on the Highway 1 is the best thing about it, barely any finish at all, the thing is loud unplugged, very resonant, all the clear coated glossy guitars muffle the true tone, like Gibsons, they sound dark because they paint EVERYTHING, I mean paint on the back of the neck, come on, what are you hiding....the tone!!! Mahogany with 50 coats of paint...LOL!!! |
| Action:
| Action was good out of the box, I set it up for me in about 10 mins and it has held so far, through hot and cold, wet and dry, intonation has not moved one bit. |

| Subject: | Overpriced and made cheaply with poor quality control |
| Quality:
| This is the poorest example of quality control in the guitar world bar NONE!!! The only place where this is collectable is in your dreams and on Craigslist if you can fing someone to give you SOME of your mmoney back. Be VERY GLAD American Musical has such a great return policy because you'll probably be using it. Been playing ove 40 years and have owned many, mant strats and these are as bad as the 70's start. Don't waaist your money |
| Sound:
| Average at best..passing them off as stageard pole...every start I've ever had had staggared pole..just another excuse for something it already ahd to justify the rediculous price and they are NOT that good |
| Reliability:
| They usually hold up even though they are poorly made |
| Overall:
| One of the worst most overpriced, over hyped guitars ever with a quality control dept that is non exisitant |
| Playability and Feel:
| If you spend the extra $50 and wait a week to get is set up, then spend another 200+ for som good pickups you'll have a nice guitar as the finish wears off. |
| Tone:
| It's a strat and it sounds like one but more glassy... |
| Finish:
| It will rub right off where you arm rests in a matter of about 2 months...CHEAP! |
| Action:
| It'll take about an hour or two to get the action right and the guitar intonated IF you know what your doing otherwise plan on having this in the shop for a few days after you get it and paying another $50 to get it properly set up. |

| Quality:
| Perfect right out of box. Fit and finish are excelent. Fret work is immaculate. No loose and jiggly knobs or anything. |
| Reliability:
| I have owned 3 american standards and all where rock solid and expect this one to last a lifetime. |
| Overall:
| I think this is the best Strat ever, and expect it to last a lifetime. I really think this could be a future collectible model. |
| Playability and Feel:
| I love the jumbo frets and the large headstock adds more mass and sustain, easily one of the fastest strat necks. |
| Tone:
| Hendrix, S.R. Vaughn, and any classic straty tone you can think of are in this guitar and easily dialed in with delta tone circuit. The pickups are hot but not harsh, they distort well with out loosing strat tone, great Vaughn tone in notch position. |
| Finish:
| Excellent. Thin laquer finish which greatly adds to tone. |
| Action:
| The action was standard fender action, which is great to me! easy chording , fast lead runs, just the right hieght for bending and with the jumbo frets make it a hoot to play |
