    Product Description

The Fender Jim Root Telecaster delivers plenty of modern features for big sounds! As the guitarist for bands like Slipknot and Stone Sour, Jim knows what goes into making a great playing and sounding guitar.

For heavy, molten nu-metal Tele® style, the Jim Root Telecaster delivers crushing detuned tone with a stark utilitarian look. The towering Slipknot guitarist worked with Fender to create a huge-sounding signature Telecaster model that complements his heavy playing style, and it’s a beast—right down to its 12”-radius fingerboard, EMG® active humbucking pickups, sparse control layout and more. Brutal.

Fender Jim Root Telecaster Electric Guitar Features

    • Mahogany body
    • Flat Black and Flat White satin nitro-lacquer finishes
    • Ebony or maple 12”-radius fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets
    • EMG® 60 (neck) and 81 (bridge) active humbucking pickups
    • Single control knob (volume) and three-way pickup switch
    • Hardtail strings-thru-body bridge
    EMG® Active Humbucking Pickups
For a decidedly non-traditional design and configuration, the crushing nu-metal sound of the Jim Root Telecaster is produced by a fearsome pair of EMG® active humbucking pickups.

    12" Fingerboard Radius
This instrument features a fingerboard radius (the amount of curvature across the width of the fingerboard) that, at 12", is substantially more flattened than both a vintage-style 7.25" radius and a modern 9.5" radius. Feels notably flat even though there’s still slight curvature, and is great for bending notes without fretting out.

    Locking Tuners
A convenient high-end, high-performance feature, locking tuners offer increased tuning stability, especially on tremolo-equipped guitars, and they make changing strings substantially faster and easier than conventional tuners.

    Ebony Fingerboard
The Jim Root Stratocaster in Flat Black offers a darkly alluring ebony fingerboard with no inlays for smooth performance and a touch of elegance.

    Satin Lacquer Mahogany Body
This guitar’s strong and resonant mahogany body has a finish that combines the thin breathability of lacquer with the stylishly muted matte look of a satin color coat.

    Black Hardware
In a pleasingly malevolent touch, the sparsely appointed Jim Root Telecaster features an all-black bridge, controls, bridge pickup bezel, tuners, strap buttons and more.

    Amazing guitar

What is your opinion of this product?
Right out of the case the action was super high, but with a quick adjustment with the wrench that fender provided I had the action slammed. I'm usually a les paul guy so the 12" radius felt like home to me. The neck is amazing and the weight is perfect. I've been playing emg for shoot I don't know, 15 years? I've come across a lot of haters...that just don't know how to eq their amp apparently. The 81 cuts like a knife and the 60 is big and beefy. One of my all time favorite neck pickups. The middle position just sings. All in all a fantastic instrument worth every penny.

    Greatest Telecaster Ever
What is your opinion of this product?
I bought this guitar from American Musical Supply and it is a work of art. Be advised that it is made in Mexico but that is not a negative with this instrument. You will find the action a bit higher on this guitar than a traditional tele. It has huge frets and was basically designed for heavy gauge strings and drop tunings. I like the heavier weight of the mahogany body and the ebony fret board. I don't recall ever seeing an ebony fret board on a Fender before and in my opinion this guitar is a good investment and will be sought after by collectors in years to come. Also the case that it comes in is absolutely gorgeous. Locking tuners, EMG pick-ups, ebony fret board, mahogany body - Fender really pulled out all of the stops with this guitar.
