The Fender Deluxe Active Precision Bass Special with Rosewood Fingerboard is a blend of a P Bass and a Jazz Bass – with a few surprises to boot. The Deluxe Active P Bass Special has an alder P Bass body and fast, Jazz Bass neck (modern C shape). Onboard electronics include a P/J pickup configuration and an impressive 3-band EQ – all U.S. electronic components.

Other features include a gold anodized pickguard, a side-mounted output jack and chrome hardware. The Deluxe Active Precision Bass Special is proudly built by Fender employees in their modern facility Ensenada Baja California, Mexico. A deluxe gig bag is included.

Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I have only recently acquired this bass but seems ok at and I am enjoying getting to know her! I could not justify paying a lot more for USA model as there appeared to be no differences to warrant extra cost. Fender quality can vary wherever manufactured.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
This bass just adds dimensions of sound that are very useful. You can greatly vary your sound without having to change instruments on stage or transport other basses - useful on airplane travel.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Good bottom end sound - not as much tone or volume on higher notes but, again, I am still getting used to this instrument.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Cannot fault the finish - it was actually better than some USA models I tried.
