Subject:Fantastic Working and Recording Bass
Quality: I'd bet my life on this bass and have. 3 albums and 8 years of roadwork on it. Here's the deal on why I chose this Bass- Wanting to make the jump from 4 to 5 strings I searched and tried many basses up and down the cost spectrum. I chose this because the low B string is stiff, the tone and note doesn't wiggle as in many I found (upon aggressive playing). the Bass is heavy but balanced. The neck may be wide at first , but it's a 5 string, you'll get used to it quickly. It's built like a rock and will serve you well !! I'm a pro and not a paid endorser so this info is from the heart.
Features: The active EQ is great, all tones I need are possible and easy to attain. Battery life good. The only feature I would add, as always with Fender, would be separate volume controls for front and back pickup instead of the standard single pot. Having said that, the middle position on volume pot does eliminate line hum in bad electrical situations.
Sound: Tone is fantastic, all needs are met here. East to adjust on the fly. Front pickup Deep, punchy and room shaking. Back pickup barks like an angry rottweiler. Front pu =James Jamerson Back pu= Jack Bruce midpoint= Stanley Clarke
Playability and Feel: This is a heavy feel bass but not cumbersome. I love it. When I play I wanna know I'm holding an instrument and not a toy.
Tone: Tone for me is all encompassing. can be Dark, Deep, Biting. This Bass cuts in all areas, I've had nothing but compliments every night, bass players wanna come up and check it out.
Finish: Bought the Sunburst, nice stain and has held up great in last 8 years. No fading yet, Fender must have totally revamped their finishes. The Pao Fero fretboard is a definite plus.
Action: Action was great out of box. I am not a slapper, rather a plucker. Great note articulation throughout.

Subject:Great Tone, Great Value
Quality: For the price, this is a very nice bass. The pick-ups and electronics are good quality, and the bass plays well.
Features: Active electronics really make a big difference in the tone. This bass is really punchy and has a nice tone. The noiseless pickups are great!
Sound: Has a nice tone. With the active electronics, you can add a lot more punch to the low-end. I can get a nice, deep precision sound by fading to the neck pick-up, or funky jazz snap and pop by fading to the rear pick-up! It's a very versatile bass
Playability and Feel: The neck on this 5-string seems wider than some of the others that I've tried. I was playing a 4-string Fender Precision bass.
Tone: Noiseless pick-ups are great! High output, and great tone.
Finish: Nice finish. I opted for the vintage sunburst finish. Looks great with the Tortoise shell pickguard.
Action: The action was pretty good right out of the box.
