The five-string Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V offers classic styling and modern features such as – a comfortable C-shape neck, active electronics and Vintage Noiseless pickups. It's built with an alder body, a maple neck with a 20-fret pao ferro fingerboard (featuring a comfortable 9.5 inch radius), and powerful 3-band EQ. A deluxe Fender gig bag is included. The volume knob moves a little easily for my taste but the instrument feels solid Features: The EQ and the 5 strings with the slim neck made this the bass for me Sound: Playability and Feel: Once I adjusted the neck and string height to my liking it plays great and feels great in my hands. I don't have big hands but I'm able to get around this bass easily Tone: The tone can vary given the EQ but I took the pickups out and put Nordstrand pickups in which sound much better. Prior to doing that the bass sounded good but the very low mids were missing. The new pickups make the bass much better IMHO Finish: Paint job is good. I have the black with the tortoise shell pickgaurd which is a nice contrast Action: Action was a mess out of the box.
