Sound: Gorgeous tone from the Texas Specials. Free of excessive single coil noise. Love the crunch of the humbucker, and single notes "bloom". If you could have only one guitar, the HSS configuration will have you covered. Reliability: Too new to talk about long-term reliability. But if you treat any instrument with care, it will stand the test of time. Overall: The HSS pickup configuration enables you to cover anything, and you don't have to break the bank to get it. Quality is there, at roughly half the price of an "American" version. This is an affordable, "mid-priced" guitar, appropriate for recording, practice and gigs. Playability and Feel: Love the weight of a Strat, especially after playing a Les Paul for 30 years. Fender does a great satin-smooth finish on the neck. Nice sweep on the volume control, especially if you like to do volume swells (without a volume pedal). Tone: It's a Strat. Expect all the classic tones, plus the extra crunch and grind from the Pearly Gates Plus Humbucker. Just remember to adjust them to proper height for optimum performance and tone. Finish: I chose the black finish, which is glossy and flawless. Action: You should make the proper setup adjustments for best playability. You can take it to a shop. But, honestly, you can do it yourself with just a couple inexpensive tools. Follow the instructions in the manual & look for good online tutorials. I adjusted the truss rod, pickup height, string height, term/bridge and intonation. Skill Level: Semi-Pro Do you own this product?: I own it. Sound: Real fender and seymour duncan pick ups, makes all the difference. The guitar is made of all the same wood and parts as an american made strat...so it sounds the same?!? I have an american made strat if you can hear the difference then it is all in your head. Reliability: I have had this guitar for a number of years. I received it in the mail and took it to a dealer to be set up properly and other then changing the strings have had no problems. Overall: I have been playing since 1990 and since that time I have had plenty of guitars and some of my favorites are not some of the most expensive I have ever owned. This is one of my favorites. Some guitars look like art and they are beautiful but art is for the wall. That fact is exactly what I like about this guitar it is beautiful and the sound is equally as good it is a nice package. Playability and Feel: Its a Strat, its a comfortable guitar with a quick or fast neck it is what has been keeping them popular for decades. Tone: It has a bright tone with a lot of mid punch. You know the same tone that has kept Fender going since the 60's Finish: It is now and it was then a great looking sunburst. Action: The action was playable, but instrument should be set up properly.
