Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I love the bright sound of the vintage pups with the maple neck. It really cuts through the mix and still keeps the classic J bass growl. It sounds great slapped, picked, or with fingers. The one and only downside to me is the vintage bridge. I had to change it out with a bad ass 2 as the band I play with tunes down a bit and the vintage saddles tend to drift a little when they lack sufficient string tension, which can throw off your string spacing and string heights (the movement and vibration can back out the set screws). But thats not a problem with the quality of the instrument, just a personal preference thing.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
My personal favorite part of this bass is the fretboard and the inlays. I am a complete fender nut and own several american basses. Not one has a neck that is as silky smooth as this one. The only addition I would make, and again this is personal preference, would be a better bridge.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
With the maple fretboard it is very bright and snappy. The pups sound very mid range/growly and both the lows and the highs shine.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Every single time I lay eyes on this Bass I fall in love all over again. Its looks and finish are of the best craftsmanship and are flawless.
