General
Your general opinion of this product.
Got this thing awhile back. I am a touring musician and needed a power house that didn't break up when I pushed the volume. I use my pedals to shape the noise rather than the amp. For what I do it works really well. It gives me the ability to switch from classic Bassman tones to Twin reverb tones with just a switch giving my rig a really cool voicing.
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
It is built with a lot of things in mind. I think this is fenders "One stop shop" amp.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Super heavy. It makes me wish it had all the handles of a Vox.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
It's got vintage 3o's in it and if you take the time to break em in right they sing. Great response and if you know what you are doing in the back of the head you can make your sound even more custom.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Out of the box the thing is plug and play but it is complex when you are trying to wrap your head around all the features. I am the guy that likes simple lay outs and for the most part it is straight forward but you gotta read the manual to understand what some of the features bring to the table and how they work along side each other. One voicing changes considerably just off one change in the back so it took me awhile to get the sound I wanted for shows.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
It's a fender. it comes with a great looking tolex or whatever and then about 4 months it starts coming apart in spots and takes on the usual fender look. I applied some glue in the two places where it came up and no problems since. Also remeber I play a lot of gigs so I am sure that hasn't helped either.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
First gig with this thing it fell over. I used the legs on it to angle it towards the drummer and some guy backed into one of the legs and it colapsed. After I was able to breath again I set it back up and the beast gave me my best show yet. Rattles a lot when you are moving it but it works like a super hero every time I light it up.
