Subject:Pretty Good Guitar
Quality: The whole package seems very high quality for a guitar of this price. Even the tuners and tremolo work very smoothly and seem to have no issues. After a full set up of course.
Sound: Not bad but I would like to hear it with better pickups and pots.
Reliability: Do not know yet this is a recent purchase.
Overall: For the money feels and looks better than others in this price range.
Playability and Feel: The guitar plays well now that it is set up and feels very similar to my (now sold) American Strat. The thinner nut width and body dimensions are not too much of a problem getting used to. I really like the all maple neck but notice the smaller body as it seems shorter as well as thinner and my arm sits naturally in a different place than I am used to. Once the fret problem is corrected it should play very nicely as a strat should.
Tone: The tone is not too bad for cheap ceramic pickups and sound very strat like. The sustain is compromised a bit by the needed fretwork but with a little time adjusting the pickup height I have achieved a pretty responsive and warm sound. The depth and harmonic response could be better with higher quality electronics but for the price is adequate.
Finish: Finish looks great on this transparent sunburst maple neck model but the guitar is advertised as solid alder and there is a sticker on it that says solid alder/agathis and of the three pieces the body looks to be made out of one may very well be agathis as the grain looks different than the other two which look like alder.
Action: Very high and stiff with too much neck relief out of the box. Tremolo is set flat against the body from the factory. I adjusted it to float like I prefer, adjusted the truss rod and lowered the saddles to Fender specs and now feels good and stays in tune. Will need fret leveling as there is a low fret near the top. This muffles the high e and g string in the upper register. When fixed the guitar will play perfectly. This is why I rate it as an overall three.

Subject:It's a Strat!
Quality: As much as I like Fender instruments, the Squire line provides those with limited spending cash with a real Fender axe without paying for the Fender name.
Sound: If you want an all-around guitar that can get through just about any short-notice gig situation from the most hard-core old C&W to head-banging heavy metal, the Strat can't be beat. It's good enough for such legendary trend-setters from Buddy Holly to Jimi Hendrix. It's good enough for me!
Reliability: I can't answer that because I rarely play electric guitar in public.
Overall: I'm basically a bassist, but I play enough guitar to know a quality guitar. I love Stratocaster guitars. I even love the knock-off imitations that have been sired by the original Stratocaster that Leo Fender made over 50 years ago! Squire instruments provide the Fender fans an alternative to spending the extra cash (and putting Leo's grandkids through college).
Playability and Feel: The action is great. The feel is great. It's comfortable and fun to play.
Tone: The tone is nice and the switches provide quick changes.
Finish: Mine is black and it's beautiful.
Action: I bought mine used. Action is great.
