Subject:P-90 Deal for the $$$
Quality: It seems to be well-made as far as the wood selection, the construction, the fretwork, and the pups. The pots in this particular guitar are an issue. The finish flaws aren't readily noticeable, but shouldn't be there.
Sound: The Duncan Designed P-90's have a nice twang & growl, depending on the amp settings and amps used. I used it through a Vox AC4TV, a Vox Valvetronix (most settings are nice), a Genz-Benz El Diablo 100, and a Mesa Nomad 100. Country & classic rock licks sound nice. Higher gain settings are clear, not muddy. Very nice tone.
Reliability: The pots will need changed. Out of the box, the tone pot for the bridge pup didn't work. The volume pot for the neck pup doesn't work properly (decreases volume to about 7, but not lower).
Overall: Overall, not bad. I own dozens of guitars ranging from a couple of hundred dollars to thousands of dollars each. I bought this out of curiosity. I'm able to do my own luthier/tech work, so most 'issues' don't trouble me. Great sound & playability. Couple of 'issues' right out-of-the-box, though.
Playability and Feel: After playing for a few hours, the fret/string residue dirtied the fingerboard. Very hard to clean. I've seen this on similar treated Fender necks on guitars that cost many times more than this one. Average weight, typical Tele feel.
Tone: The tone through the various amps listed above have been nice. A P-90 is its own animal. I can get a nice country twang, as well as a nice smoky blues tone. Classic & hard rock sounds are great. Watch the gain.
Finish: The paint is a nice color with depth. The problem is that there are 3 small black spots that won't rub out. One spot is on the top, one near the neck joint (with a finish flaw close by), and the other is on the side.
Action: The truss rod needed 1/2 turn clockwise, as it was a tad loose. Now it plays quite nice. It is low with no rattles or buzzing. I'm impressed for the price.

Quality: Product seems well made. Initial impressions seems like it will last a while with care.
Reliability: I've only had it about five months. And so far no problems.
Overall: For the money, this guitar was a steal. A nice tele-type guitar.
Playability and Feel: Plays like a tele should. Light (when compared to my Les Paul), with that satin finished neck. It plays fast and feels good. Like a telecaster should.
Tone: The p90's give it a more ballsy type of single coil sound. Like single coils on steroids. But you can get bright and snappy, or dial it down to dark and smooth. Rock, Blues, Country, this git can do it all.
Finish: Polyester paint looks kinda thick. It's okay, nothing great.
Action: Playability was good right out of the box. Made minor to adjustments at 1st string change, but that was it.

"I really liked the live Chat feature. I also was very impressed with the Live product demostration video by Line 6 Variax Guitars on the Acoustic and Classical versions. This was very integral in making my decision, as was the live Chat." Nov '09
