Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Pedal

Until Fulltone's OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Drive), pedals just couldn't hold up to what a high quality amp could do. You lose all the touch sensitivity and you can forget about those complex Harmonics. It's always been somewhat of a compromise using Overdrive pedals until now. The OCD is designed to replicate the dynamics and harmonic structure of an overdriven tube amp, it uses a unique multi-stage distortion circuit, as opposed to the more common diodes-in-feedback-loop/diodes-to-ground configurations. The designers at Fulltone made this pedal for themselves, but they'll let you use it too. And you'll love it!

AMPS...
If you've ever owned a GREAT amp, like a Marshall 18 watt, a VOX AC15, a Marshall JTM45 and if you have a place where you can crank them up loud, then you know what we're talking about. Smack a power chord and you (not only) hear the fundamental notes...but you get (count 'em) 4, 5, even 6 additional overtones ringing into a feedback... notes that you can whistle if your ear is good enough! Think; Led Zeppelin's Ocean, Custard Pie, Classic tones including James Gang, the Beatles, AC/DC, FREE., etc.

Back off the guitar's volume and there are a dozen great other sounds at your fingertips... Clean, spanky sounds, with all the highs and lows still intact. And a Tele still sounds like a Tele, a Les Paul like a Les Paul.

Frequently asked questions about Fulltone's OCD:

Q:The OCD has the brightest LED I've ever seen, it lights up my entire pedalboard, but there is NO POPPING sound like on my other booteek effects...is the OCD true bypass?
A: Yes it is true bypass, and thanks for noticing the no pop thing. Fulltone's designer invented an active anti-pop circuit (not simply resistors to ground ;) that eliminates almost all the snap, thump, and pop you're used to getting at higher volumes with true bypass pedals.

Q:The OCD is huge sounding, wide open sounding, why does it make my other Overdrives sound like there's a blanket over the speakers in comparison?
A: Because 99% of all pedals use clipping diodes to achieve their distortion, and the net result is you are lopping off the upper frequencies (harmonics) and most of the lower frequencies, leaving mostly only Midrange.

Q:You're right, but why don't I hear it with other overdrives?
A: Because your overdrives filter out (Lop off ) the upper harmonics, the upper frequencies, and mask your amp's fizziness. Just turn down the OCD's Tone control, which only affects those upper frequencies....or better yet, fix the amp.

Q:Is it ok to run the OCD higher than 9 volts?
A: Yes, you can run 9volts DC, 12volts DC, up to 18 volts DC, just make sure that the Center Pin of the adapter is Negative. BTW, you can't hurt the OCD by using the wrong adapter because it has special protective circuitry...if you use the wrong adapter it just won't work or it will hum, but you can't hurt it.

Subject:Awesome OD!!!!!
Quality: Seems very well made to last a long time.
Sound: I play a Fender Deluxe Strat and a Korean LP copy thru a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and as most know the Hot rod Deluxe lacks in the OD channel, but when you play it thru channel 1,as I do, OMG!The tone is like the feeling of putting that first piece of a nice thick, juicy chunk of your favorite grilled steak in your mouth,it is thick and juicy and leaves you wanting more. There are so many tonal options especially with the LP(low peak) and HP(high peak) switch, which I must add is nothing short of "brilliant",I can achieve the "brown-sound" easily with this pedal.I have version #4 (red light)the newest and "final version" of the OCD (at least thats what Fulltone states on the manual in the box). For a pedal that is under $150 you are getting a tone that is worth twice as much. And as stated by another owner, these pedals will become highly sought after in the future.
Reliability: I do not gig with mine,so it is for home use only, but it seems very well built. Fulltone gives you a 5 year warranty as long as you have the reciept of purchase!!
Overall: Well let me say after many days of looking for the right OD pedal, this one was the one I chose. When I turned it on,after a few seconds of getting my desired setting, I was in "Tone-Heaven". After a few minutes of playing I stopped and thought "OMG! Fulltone Nailed it"! If my amp could speak it would say "Thank you"! I will be buying more Fulltone products in the future! If you got the money buy one before the prices go up,you will be suprised what you get out of it for only $140 and some change!
Playability and Feel: Not sure this question is applicable to the pedal.
Tone: As stated above, awesome tone! Thick, creamy, and chunky. I never really knew what people ment by "Creamy sounding" until now!It can give you some dark, thick sounds, but you can dial in bright, crisp, highs if needed.Again by using the LP-HP switch and the tone knob, you can thicken up or thin out your sound too, without getting harsh "tin-can" sounds as most of todays cheap OD's do.And it is a touch sensitive pedal, the softer you strum, even with the gain pegged to 10,note and chord clarity shine thru!Absolutely the best OD on the market today,IMO.
Finish: I like it,usually other brands have to get real fancy and creative with their paint jobs to get people to buy them, because they suck in tone(I won't "name any names",you know who you are)! Fulltone does NOT need the fancy paint job, they kept it simple and passed the savings on to you by not doing it!Besides I'm not buying it for the looks,I bought it for the tone and it delievered Big time!
Action: The knobs and switches seem very smooth and solid to me.

Subject:Fullton OCD (great pedal)
Quality: No complaints on the price/or quality.
Sound: Kinda reminds of a soho from a light driven side but certainly can achieve the vintage / british rock drive thing. The drive can run at 0 and still get volume from the pedal. could used a subtle color in the clean boost fashion or for a little grit.
Reliability: Built like a tank.
Overall: Like all fulltone products I've tested, they are more than just a basic preamp drive. Very full and more like an amp channel. The eq control on the OCD is very nice and easy to dial in tones
Playability and Feel: na
Tone: Can be both bright, mellow or thick. Tone is very subjective, but this pedal has great flexiblity.
