Furman SPB8 Stereo Power Conditioner Pedal Board

The Furman SPB-8 is the first pedalboard designed with the professional in mind. The first stereo board on the market, it is also the first to feature the high-level power conditioning that Furman is famous for. The Pedal Board is a solid, light yet rugged polycarbonate platform in combination with a steel chassis with a non-slip base, for up to 8 pedal effects. The SPB8 lets you leave everything powered up and patched together as you like it. Pedal effects attach securely to a 12 x 25 inch Velcro pad during performance and transport. The SPB-8's stereo patch bay contains ten 1/4 inch switching phone jacks, connected in two stereo loops. This allows a single guitar or instrument input to feed multiple mono and stereo effects boxes, send and return from remote effects, and feed up to two amplifiers simultaneously. A very nice, pocketed padded soft case is included to protect your valued effects boxes.

Furman SPB8
Guitar players, bassists, and keyboard players have all asked for this, and Furman has answered with the most rugged, versatile, and useful board available anywhere. It features heavy duty metal construction that will handle the most vehement stomps you can offer, as well as stand up to the rigors of the road. The first stereo board on the market, it is also the first to feature the high level of power conditioning that Furman is famous for.

At the heart of the SPB-8 Stereo Pedal Board is a light yet rugged polycarbonate platform in combination with a steel chassis, and large Velcro sheet, ensuring secure, noiseless, flex free, non-slip performance for up to eleven effects boxes and pedals.

The SPB-8’s stereo patch bay contains ten 1/4 inch switching phone jacks, connected in two stereo loops. This allows a single guitar or instrument input to feed multiple mono and stereo effects boxes, send and return from remote effects, and feed up to two amplifiers simultaneously. From modest to highly complex patching demands, the SPB-8 allows nearly unlimited set-up flexibility.

Powering your pedals, amps and other gear, the SPB-8 offers two levels of surge and short circuit protection, as well as RF and EMI filtering. Furman’s SPB-8 is quiet, powering both AC and DC pedals without hum, due to the high quality toroid transformer employed. Each DC output is rated at 100 mA capability, as well as being individually protected against shorts -guaranteeing that if one pedal goes out, the rest are protected and continuously functioning.

The SPB-8 makes pack up simple and convenient. Un-patching several effects boxes and pedals is no longer required, since the large Velcro sheet and strips firmly secures all of your pedals in place. A soft padded case is included to protect your valued effects boxes. The case includes a shoulder strap, and a zippered pouch for storing cables, wall warts, and AC cords.

Subject:Convenient, easy to set up, worth the $$
Overall: Great to have all my pedals set up and ready to go. Built tough. Takes a good beating. Comes with 8 AC lines, so say goodbye to batteries. A couple of things I'd like to improve: Comes with soft case instead of hard case; Velcro system doesn't work very well - sticky end of Velcro doesn't stick to pedals; there's a slight hum produced when using 2 amps for the stereo effect.

QUALITY:
Just purchased, so the patch bay reliability issue is an unknown. That said, all other features seem to be as advertised, and feature set (power conditioning, spike protection, etc) are wonderful, as is the packaging w/ padded gig bag.

EASE OF USE:
Had it set up and running with my existing 5 pedals in less than 5 minutes.

VALUE:
If it performs as promised, on the road, over the long haul, I'd say it's a very good value.

SOUND:
No hum, no buzz, nada. zip.

Overall: How did I ever live without this thing? It's so nice to have all my pedals lined up and powered...I haven't tried the Velcro yet as I haven't had to carry my setup anywhere. The carrying case is nice and will certainly do the trick. This device delivers on all promises. Very nice, I'm glad to have it.

Subject:Just about perfect!!
Overall: I tried a couple of other so-called pedalboards. This thing fixed every probelm I had!! Unzip, unlatch, lift and it's on the floor. Just plug it in. There's so much room I just wind my cables up on top of my pedals and the strap holds them neatly in place. I just unwind one at a time!! The power supply powers my hole stereo rig including amps and effects racks, etc. 8 DC lines and 3 AC plugs. I needed more, but there's plenty of room to velcro a power strip!! The other guitarist in my band even runs his floor effects off the power supply in this wonderful unit. I can't say enough good things about it!! Put a hard-shell case with it and some miracle velcro and it will be perfect!! Good work Furman!!

Subject:Patchbay is an issue with Furman, use at own risk

QUALITY:
I have to echo the last review. I purchased this item solely due to a brother guitarist's demonstrated use. Once I started gigging with it, constant hooking up took its toll on the patch bay. 3 of the jack inputs died, giving off a horrible squeal. I called Furman to inquire how to get new ones and they told me it was a known issue (foreign manufacture) but that they weren't available as parts. They are coming out with a new design which fixes this. Everything else on this board is outstanding. Flexibility is reduced because of the patch bay.

FEATURES:
Best features is the power, bar none.

EASE OF USE:
Superlative layout, and oddly similar to the SKB PS45...which one came first, I wonder.

VALUE:
For the power and portablility, it is worth it, but the patches are going to die.

SOUND:
I didn't notice a "tone suck" and I have heard this board played through several different players. The
