The Gibson ES335 Memphis DOT Plain Gloss Top gives you the resonance of a solid body and the refines looks of a traditional Gibson archtop with the reduced weigt of a thinline.
Today’s ES335 continues to provide the tone and the look that inspires musicians in blues, rock and jazz. The American Made Memphis Series DOT Reissue features a maple body, a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard, two Gibson 1957 Classic humbuckers and Grover tuners.
From Chuck Berry to Larry Carlton, Freddie King to Alvin Lee, the Gibson ES335 has proven to be one of the most popular and adaptable guitars ever created. Touted as the wonder thin body by Gibson when it launched in 1958, the ES335 represented a ground breaking innovation in electric guitars. With its solid maple center block and f hole semi hollowbody design, the ES335 effectively delivers the singing sustain of a solidbody while preserving the tone and richness of a full hollowbody, with no feedback.
The Custom Shop has made several changes to more accurately reflect an original ES335, including a period correct center block resulting in ten to fifteen percent weight reduction, a slightly thinner body, and lower binding height.
Pickups
With its Patent Applied For decal on the baseplate, the 1957 Classic and 1957 Classic Plus are faithful replicas of the famous Gibson humbuckers that helped define the music of the late 1950s.
While this timeless beauty gives you a tone that is warm and subtle with full, even response, it doesn’t hold back when you need that classic Gibson humbucker crunch!
The 1957 Classic features Gibson’s special Alnico II magnet, vintage enamel coated wire, nickel plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers and vintage-style, two-conductor, braided wiring.

| Cherry 335 - A Blues Classic |
| Quality |
| Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? |
| I got this one as a scratch and dent. I can't find any scratches or dents, but when I received it the action was way high. A quick truss rod adjustment and bridge height adjustment and it's a fantastic shred capable blues machine. |
|
| Reliability |
| How has it stood up over time? |
| Don't know yet but it comes with a 5 year Gibson Gold warranty. |
|
| General |
| Your general opinion of this product. |
| I have owned them all, teles, 335s, strats, taylor t3s, g&l, suhr, guild, name it. Most more than once. I came home to this instrument and I love it. LOVE IT. |
|
| Playability and Feel |
| How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? |
| The Gibson Slim Taper neck is just the bees knees for me. |
|
| Tone |
| Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? |
| Bright and twangy to dark and jazzy. Think of a Les Paul with twice the sonic range. The 57 Classics are my favorite pickups. |
|
| Finish |
| How did the stain or paint job look? |
| Flawless. |
|
| Action |
| How was the action out of the box? |
| Way high with far too much neck relief. I think this must have scared the 1st buyer into returning it. Thank you, whoever you are for that! |
