Gibson Memphis started from scratch to reproduce one of the most iconic guitars of all time, the ES335. The Gibson Memphis 50th Anniversary 1963 ES335 Electric Guitar is a reissue that celebrates 50 years of the beloved ’63 model. Gibson Memphis thoroughly studied original 1963 ES335’s to get all the specs, finish, build, materials, feel and tone just right. The end result is nothing short of amazing!

Gibson Memphis started by getting a perfect condition, original ’63, digitized the shape and had a new press made to could replicate arguably the most important feature of this guitar, the slender horns. These new accurate sides are glued to a lightweight maple centerblock with an original style ‘window’ re-designed just for the 50th Anniversary 1963 ES-335 reissue.

Back to the Glory years!
Your general opinion of this product.
With Gibson, you sometimes wonder if they are really trying to produce a product to return to the standards of their 'glory years,' or if they have just become completely caught up in cosmetics. Based on my new 50th Anniversary 1963 ES335, I have to believe that they are honestly trying to offer the finest quality product possible. I thought about buying a reissue block neck 335 a couple of years ago. I'm very pleased that I waited. There are just SO MANY things Gibson got right on this guitar. Yes, it's looks great, but it sounds wonderful- and it's not even broken in yet.
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
The build quality and materials in this guitar make me very confident that this guitar will last and be trouble free for a long time to come.
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The guitar is definitely on the bright side, which is a good thing. You get a sound you can work with, a sound that's versatile, especially with a good amp. I think the Burst bucker pickups are a good choice here. What impressed me was how evenly the guitar sounds from string to string, up and down the neck. Right out of the shipping carton, the guitar has a nice degree of 'broken in' responsiveness.
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish was amazing. Remembering that that this is a factory made guitar, the finish on this guitar is better than any other guitar I've ever owned. They did a wonderful job matching the look and vibe of what a real 1963 ES335 would look like.
