Gibson

Strong Enough for Blues, Smooth Enough for Jazz!
The Gibson ES175 Electric Guitar has become one of the most sought after guitars in Jazz today. Just one look at the ES175 brings to mind that smooth, bluesy sound that is synonymous with great tone. Constructed out of maple and wrapped in multi-ply binding on the top and single-ply on the back. The ES175 also features a mahogany neck with a split pearl parallelogram inlayed rosewood fingerboard.

The ES175 provides an incredible package for the jazz lover but offers tones both smooth and dirty for the blues guitarist.

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
The product is well made as expected for a guitar of this price. Mine has no visible flaws and is a work of art.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
All of my Gibson guitars (3 Les Pauls, 137 and 335) have never given me any issues. I don't anticipate any problems with the 175.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
One of the best guitars I've ever owned. In 1973 I had the option to buy this or a Les Paul Recording and chose the LP as I was playing rock and blues. (Didn't know Steve Howe was using one at the time.)I finally got the opportunity to get the ES 175 and I was not disappointed. It's a great guitar that is playable out of the box. This is a beautiful instrument
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The guitar is very playable and you can feel the guitar resonate against your body as you play. The neck is perfect for me personally.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The tone is full and warm for jazz or you can open the bridge pick up for some tasty blues licks. I love this guitar.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Beautiful and Flawless.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
The action was good but was a little high out of the box. It was quickly adjusted after adding a set of flatwound 12s and lowering the action. The guitar comes equipped with 10s.
