    Product Description

A modern take on a Les Paul from the '60s. The Les Paul Classic 2017 T riffs on the beloved guitars of the ’60s and ’70s while adding modern upgrades for tone and playability, yielding a true Classic with contemporary twists. A Grade-A plain maple top on a mahogany back with 9-hole weight relief combine for subtle beauty with enhanced resonance and superb playing comfort. The solid-mahogany neck has a fast slim-taper profile, a thicker rosewood fingerboard with 22 super-smooth polished frets for easy bends, and a genuine nylon nut. Zebra '57 Classic humbuckers with orange drop tone caps ensure sultry PAF-like voicings, while a nickel wired ABR bridge and aluminum stopbar combine for solid sustain. Gibson USA gently rolls the fingerboard binding for a neck that never felt so good, and Grover locking kidney tuners provide an accurate and long-lasting performance. Gold speed knobs add an elegant touch. Delivered in a classic Gibson brown hardshell case with a Gibson multi-tool, a premium leather strap, and a polishing cloth.

Wow the best Les Paul to date!
    Product Rating
What is your opinion of this product?
I have had several Les Paul guitars over the last 20 years.. The 2017 is by far the best design and authenticity of a rare 50's original. The aluminum bridge brings a crisp clarity to the notes without sacrificing the warm rich tone of the definitive Les Paul sound. The neck is rolled and Plecked and is the best I have ever played. The craftsmanship is premium and the feel, smell, sound and just joy of playing this iconic Instrument is worth the price of admission. In the sea of flame top axes the simple beauty and authentic Grade A maple top is not only historically accurate but it has a woodsy esthetic that stands out . The weight relief is a practical trend that the Gibson line has embraced and is a welcome Improvement for the working musician. I really like this new 2017 and it looks like the best value for a real honest to goodness Musicians instrument.

    Good Guitar-Some Assembly required
What is your opinion of this product?
The bottom pickup was installed 3/8" higher on one side (literally). Next, it went to the bridge assembly. Instead of sending it back to the pickup dept. They just installed the bridge cockeyed also. $75.00 setup and it's great now. It was embarrassing to take it into Carruthers because he was Leo Fenders right hand man. John's word was "shocking" how poorly it was installed. The finish was immaculate. As was most of the fit. It was lifeless played through the Blackstar. Marshall tube amp brought it to full life. Just concerned that others may not have a place to take it and have the pickups re-installed and majorly adjust the bridge, Elixer 10's. Manufactered 10/17/16 Four Stars may be a on the high side. It's obvious that it is a budget/garbage guitar to Gibson. To the average person 2k is kind of a big deal.

    Classic features with simplicity
What is your opinion of this product?
Close to being perfect. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star rating was that there were a couple of small surface marks on the top around the pickup selector switch. The guitar sounds and plays great. No complaints here. I love that there is no coil taps or DB boost. The ABR bridge is also a nice touch. The neck is very fast. It stays in tune. I tried various types of tuning and it handles everything I throw at it. No mods needed on this guitar. I really like the case as well. It's nice to see Gibson finally decided to give us a little more by adding a strap and tools. Goldtops have always been a favorite of mine. Looking forward to bringing it to band practice. Finally, Gibson got it right.

    Quality seems lacking
What is your opinion of this product?
Initial impressions of the 2017 year for Gibson in order of how I observed the shipment: Case looks solid; I was hoping for a pink interior instead of the maroon interior. The guitar finish quality looks overall solid. There are flaws in the wood, however. There are several dents in the top and a very concerning crack around the nut; I think it's in the finish because it's lined up very well with the fretboard side of the nut. Nonetheless I'm worried about the long term integrity of the instrument. The sound is about spot on into a vintage Marshall. It plays very well. The features (studded bridge, locking tuners, upgraded pickups) are nearly perfect for me. I'd prefer a bone nut instead of nylon if they are going to sacrifice other "classic" features on this model. Overall OK but DEFINITELY NOT WORTH $2,000. Buy a Studio model, upgrade it, and save the cash; otherwise buy an older Traditional model used. Overall I'm disappointed in the quality. Not a high end instrument.
