What is your overall opinion of this product?
I decided to order the 2014 LPJ because it is, amazingly, a USA-made Gibson for well under a thousand dollars, and with the goods to make it a real Les Paul--'61 Zebra humbuckers, the tune-o-matic bridge, mahogany body with maple cap. I own a 2002 Gibson Les Paul Standard as well, but frankly I like the tone of the LPJ better. Not only does it have a wider range of sounds, the tone is more articulate and a bit hotter, and the feel of the guitar (at least for me) is superior. My LPJ is in the cherry satin, which some people seem to hate, but I love; heck, I even like the 120th Anniversary fret marker. With a tube amp, I got classic rock sounds right out of the box, no pedals required. Also, the build quality is outstanding. The neck is smooth, the frets are well dressed, the action is perfect, the finish is first-rate. My only complaint is the gig bag, which has a bad habit of the zipper popping open, so I'm going to invest in a hard case. This guitar's worth it.
