A truly refined guitar, the Les Paul Standard Plus fills the void between the Les Paul Standard and the Les Paul Custom.
Starting at the neck, the Les Paul Standard now features an enlarged neck tenon for maximum wood contact, and a new asymmetrical neck profile that makes it one of the most comfortable and playable necks ever offered. Locking Grover Rotomatic tuners with an improved gear ratio of 18:1 are also a first for the Les Paul Standard. A new level of sonic clarity is achieved by new, cusom-made, gold-plated potentiometers made by Bourns. The guitar boasts a great lineup of other features, including a carved AA figured maple bound top, Burstbucker Pro pickups and great sunburst finishes.
If you can handle everything about the Gibson except the price, check this out. Engineers designed this modern classic with the arched top and fast neck of the best Les Pauls. It has an arched, figured curly Maple, carved top in faded sunburst finishes for that great LP look. And like all Les Pauls, features a solid glued neck joint for great sustain and stability. These guitars are built to 100% Gibson specifications.
It’s also one of the first Gibson USA models to utilize the revolutionary Plek system, a computer-controlled setup that carefully measures and dresses each fret, accurately measuring the height between the fingerboard and each string, virtually eliminating string buzz and providing unbeatable playability. A set of Gibson’s Burstbucker Pro humbuckers deliver the powerful punch expected from a Les Paul, faithfully capturing the magic of Gibson’s legendary PAF pickups of the 1950’s. A chambered mahogany body gives the 2008 Standard enhanced resonance, and a plain maple top pays homage to the iconic Les Pauls of the late 1950’s. Other new features include TonePros’ locking Nashville Tune-o-matic and stopbar tailpiece, and each one comes with Gibson USA’s standard black snakeskin case.

It's a real Les Paul
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Excellent, they say you will get a AA top and I did, was worried about that since it really "luck of the draw" Gibsons AA tops can vary from A to AAA for the very same guitar. Big drawback for me on ordering, but I got what I wanted, definitely AA top. Have yet to find a flaw on the craftmenship. Top post on the bridge is a little loose in the guitar.

Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Don't yet know, it's 3 weeks old for me and only 3 shows in, but like the manual says, with proper care it will probably out live me.

General
Your general opinion of this product.
This is a fantastic instrument, nothing feels quite like it. There is a definite silkyness to this axe. Top notch looks, great wood.
|
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Everything is awesome except for the fret dressing.
|
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
All the tones are there. Was quite excited about the rhythm selector up with a little highs off the tone knob, Jazz city! This guitar can truly do it all, I primarily use this guitar for loud rock, it screams with the Dimebucker in the bridge.

Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Absolutely Gorgeous, stunning guitar.
|
Action
How was the action out of the box?
UGHHH! $2700 for a guitar that buzzes on the G B and high E from 1st fret to 6th. Plek system my a$$. This guitar should be able to drop 1/32 to 1/16 lower on action out of the box but I can't get it that low because of the buzz. Needs a luthier's touch. Will be in shop soon, very disappointed in that. What am I supposed to do? Send it back? No, she's mine now. I played 3 others of the same guitar, none had the buzzing.
