What is your overall opinion of this product?
Perfect! Dirty Fingers on a weight relieved Les Paul with a 70's style neck is an exact fit for me.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
I bought this as a scratch and dent so I expected problems. When I got it it had a "tinny" sound. I solved this problem by giving the strings a good stretch, loosening the neck tension rod by a turn or two, and dropping the pick-ups away from the strings by a couple screw turns and voila I got that beautiful Les Paul tone dirtied up perfectly by the Dirty Fingers.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Feel is perfect for my large hands. Controls are where they always are for Les Pauls.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
Tone is hot, chunky and dirty. Since these pick-ups are so hot I had to back them off the strings to find the sweet spot.
How did the stain or paint job look?
I got flat black. Looked great. No frills but a solid look.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
Great value since it was scratch and dent, with mini-tune to boot. AMS is my go-to place for my guitars. They rock!!
How was the action out of the box?
Had fret buzz so I gave it some neck relief by loosening the tension rod a turn or two. Have had no buzz since and the action is great!
