Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar is made from solid mahogany producing a sonic depth and richness that pulses through every note, yet always remains clear and articulate. The LP Junior’s neck is made from quarter-sawn Grade C mahogany, carved to the fast, yet comfortable SlimTaper profile, with a bound fingerboard. For hardware, Gibson USA packs in a classic set of Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, with vintage-style, white-button tuners.

The Gibson Les Paul Junior Special Electric Guitar carries an open-coil 490R in the neck position and a hotter, open-coil 498T in the bridge position. The 490R is made with a genuine Alnico II magnet for creamy, rich, warm tones, while the 498T has a stronger Alnico V magnet and extra turns of coil wire for added growl and punch. Both provide the Les Paul Junior Special with superb clarity and sustain, and they make a well-matched set, with a balanced output and excellent round, funky tones when combined in the middle position.

"Well worth the money if you get a good one"

Your general opinion of this product.
this is the first gibson that has noisy humbucker pups,i took it to thier service center and was told everything is grounded but they could try to replace the pups,i went to my local music store & tried another one with open coils same thing so i left it alone for now. gibson must be making them hotter now for some reason i have the same pups on a sg special 490r & 490t and no noise.
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
mine has finish issues dull area under neck pup & front of guitar you can see where they joined the wood together looks like they used three pieces it shows right through the gloss ebony finish.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
very good playability slim neck & very fast, controls are regular les paul layout easy to get to. As far as weight kind of heavy must be the grade of mahogany used.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Can be bright & snappy probably because fretboard is maple this is something I like and it still has that dark & smooth les paul tone as well,as I stated before pups are hot or over wound. Guitar has a lot of static electricity for some reason it's like a dust magnet, maybe it was overly staticaly charged for the paint & finish to take to it on high gain you can hear crackling as you slide your hand up & down neck even after you dust it off.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Was ok but i always set it to my liking intonation was off on a couple of strings.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Not as good as I would of liked "see above" I didn't return it because all they had left was scratch and dent I may have ended up with one worse,if static noise don't stop after I wipe down with an antistatic dust repellent I may have to send off for warranty.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Only had it less than two months

Awesome Guitar!
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action was a little low but I always set all my guitars up to my own specs. I use D'Addario 10's and set the string height at 2/32 across the board.
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
This Les Paul is very well made. Frets are smooth and level. No flaws, intonation was spot on.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Just got it but I expect it to hold up just like my other Les Pauls.
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
This a great price for this guitar. Made in USA and high quality. I bought 2 of these Les Paul Junior Special. The other on has the P90's.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck feels good, not fat and not too thin. Controls are nice and smooth.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Has that great Les Paul tone. Very smooth neck pickup, bridge pickup is brighter. Both together sound great.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Finish is perfect, I could find no flaws. I got the Ebony.
