The SG Standard is an iconic design that is so good, so rock-n-roll that it temporarily replaced the Les Paul model 50 years ago. The Gibson Limited Edition SG Standard Electric Guitar is all SG, offering that classic design and massive power in limited edition finished that are sure to turn some heads!
Tonewoods
The Limited Edition SG Standard has the warm tone of an all mahogany neck and body and is punctuated by a Baked Maple fingerboard for improved articulation and a smooth, fast feel. Although it looks like a medium-brown rosewood, baked maple sounds more like ebony.
Pickups
Gibson’s 490R and 498T humbuckers have been a classic combination for many years, providing super versatile tone on some of their most expensive Custom Shop models. These Alnico II humbuckers deliver classic Gibson tone that is often associated with the SG, giving you that throaty, open voice.
All in all, the Gibson Limited Edition SG Standard is a beautiful guitar that will give outstanding performance whether you play an arena, or rock your garage. Get yours while they’re still available!

| Quality |
| Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? |
| Stunning out of the box, and equally impressive under close scrutiny: I got a high-quality instrument that plays like a dream! |
|
| Reliability |
| How has it stood up over time? |
| Over the past 24 hours that I have owned this beauty it hasn't changed much... However it's a tried and true design and I believe it will stay reliable. |
|
| General |
| Your general opinion of this product. |
| This is my 4th Gibson within the last couple of years. I like them all, but this SG is affordable and because of its light weight and great neck, superior access to all frets -it's going to be with me for a long time. I am very pleased with the craftsmanship and the entire design, but honestly the playability is unreal! |
|
| Playability and Feel |
| How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? |
| A+ all the way for playability and feel! I feared that the body might be too light, but the SG just feels like a million bucks! |
|
| Tone |
| Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? |
| I'm still exploring the tones, but can already say that even with the factory strings still on, both the neck and the bridge pickups can scream, snarl, sing and sound entirely different than to my LesPaul. I'm still exploring the tonal capabilities with my favorite amps, but I like what I've been hearing so far. |
|
| Finish |
| How did the stain or paint job look? |
| Excellent finish (my color is Aged Cherry) without any flaws, bumps or runs. And yes, I have looked very very close! |
|
| Action |
| How was the action out of the box? |
| Out of the box the action was just a little too high for my taste. The bridge was easy to adjust and now the action is UNREAL! I really love the fingerboard and the frets: If this is baked maple, I need the Gibson man to come over and bake all my Telecaster necks! This fingerboard is phantastic -feels just like Ebony but looks a lot like rosewood...Three cheers for baked maple! |
