G&L

The G&L Tribute Fiorano™ GTS Electric Guitar was first dreamed up when G&L founder Leo Fender had a vision for a new guitar, and his partner George Fullerton sketched that vision. G&L's Steve Grom uncovered the sketch three decades later in Leo's workshop, and his colleague Paul Gagon set about turning the vision into reality. He enlisted Jackson Guitars founder Grover Jackson - a long-time friend and collaborator - to contribute.

The result is an instrument that's steeped in rock-guitar history but groundbreaking. The Tribute Fiorano GTS, the first set-neck, 25 1/2 inch-scale, three-tuners-to-a-side guitar G&L has ever offered. It's a striking instrument and, quite simply, it kicks the competition to the curb.

It joins the pioneering 24 3/4 inch-scale Ascari™ in G&L's Tribute Series, and it delivers on its promise. The 24-fret neck and Gagon-designed humbuckers are made for brutal riffing and detuned/drop-tuned heaviness - but the Fiorino cleans up beautifully when asked.

The sweeping lines and three-by-three headstock (inspired by the original drawing) are both powerful and refined. Fittingly, G&L named Fiorano after the curvaceous test track of Italy's most renowned supercar maker, a place where tradition turns groundbreaking.

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Excellent quality control on this one. One point to mention are sharp corners on the bridge saddles. Very minor and an easy fix.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Too new to say but I have no reservations about this guitar.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
Very impressive. Some die hard G&L fans might dismiss this guitar but its an outstanding first time offering.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Action was great out of the box. Feels like an old friend.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The pickups are outstanding! Balanced and very responsive to attack and volume, tone and also sound good using the coil splitter. Paul Gagnon deserves kudos for the design.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Perfect except for the minor bridge problem I already mentioned.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
No buzzing, excellent fret work. Whats not to like?
