Golden Age Project

The Golden Age Project D1 Dynamic Vocal Microphone is a classic dynamic microphone inspired by the 1950's style. The D1 marked presence peak results in a forward and distinctive sound that is very well suited to vocals and many instruments.

The Golden Age Project D1 mic has a cardioid polar pattern which reduces feedback effectively. The ON / OFF switch is very useful for stage / live sound applications and it is totally noise free and can also be securely locked in the ON position for unexpected interruptions in the performance.

The D1 is a versatile microphone that will perform very well at the stage, in the studio or for broadcasting applications. Most people might think that this kind of mic is designed for live vocal purposes only, but that is not the case with the D 1. The dynamic diaphragm is very sensitive yet rigid and it sounds terrific on electric instruments, toms and snares, and of course vocals.

The Golden Age Project D1 is a workhorse on stage and a spicy all round mic to keep around the studio or in the rehearsal hangout.

WHO NEEDS AN OLD MIC TO LOOK COOL?!
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
This mic is very heavy compared to your average microphones out there. But it is made of a metal casing. It's been working great ever since I bought it back around a year or so ago now. No problems yet whatsoever!
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
The best over all features would have to be the looks (up close, it really looks alot better than the picture on AMS) and the fact that this thing is made of hard steel so it's a little on the heavy side! This tells me that it should be able to take alot of abuse and keep on ticking! The only thing I would improve is the threading on it when fastened to a standard mic stand. It does come with an adapter for a smaller type of mic stand attachment. It just needs an adapter for the larger kind to protect the actual threading on the mic itself.
Ease of Use
How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be?
It can be a pain to attach directly to a mic standard stand because of the threading. You have to take the adpater that comes already on the mic itself, then line it up perfectly with threads on your mic stand. I plan on leaving it attached to the mic stand permanently because of the hassle that goes along with attaching it to a mic stand. It comes in a cool black plastic case. But who really wants to mess with taking it off and puting it on the mic stand?! I sure don't!
Sound
How is the tone?
The tone is about average in my opinion. It makes your voice sound like your true voice. So, it's pretty clear with just a little warmth added to your voice. But for 70 bones, you can't beat a deal like this on a cool looking mic like this one!
