| Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? |
| If the silk screening on the back of the headstock were missing, you think it was made in the good ol' U.S.of A. I was eight when dad bought his C.G. (Im 40) I had never heard a guitar sound like that. I also had never seen him so impressed with one either. So I was hooked. After searching for a vintage Gretsch for years without any luck, I thought I was settling for a reissue. I was wrong. I tried many old ones (some of them had the binding crumbling in my lap while I played) I have a gretsch that looks as good as it sounds. The fit and finsh is as good as any guitar you'll find. Out of the box it is set-up to play without any adjustments. The only thing I have done is lower the strings (about 1 turn on the bridge) in the year since I got it. |
|
| Reliability |
| How has it stood up over time? |
| Like I said I have had it a year and it still looks as good today as it did the day I took it out of the box. |
|
| Overall |
| Your general opinion of this product. |
| I can't say enough good things about it. It plays as good as ES 335 for half the price!! |
|
| Playability and Feel |
| How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? |
| Its a big Guitar so yeah its a little heavy but sit down and play. The neck is wide but not thick. It barre's very comfortably. It takes a little bit to get used to the volume and tone controls if you are used to gibsons. the Stand by switch is odd too. |
|
| Tone |
| Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? |
| Creamy!!! Filter trons are definatly different then 57' classics Not at all dark, but not too Hot. T.V. Jones Classics will be the only pick up better suited. |
|
| Finish |
| How did the stain or paint job look? |
| Flawless |
|
| Action |
| How was the action out of the box? |
| A good set-up. You could take it out of the box and play a gig easily. Everybody likes it a little different. I lowered the bridge about 1 turn but thats it. |
