Overall Rating
This Gretsch is awesome!
What is your overall opinion of this product?
I have never owned a Gretsch before so this was a stretch to say the least. I own Gibson Les Pauls and Epiphone Les Pauls, and Ibanez guitars. But I wanted that classic look and sound. Well this is the guitar for it. First of all it looks fanstastic in Aspen Green. Outside my normal Red and Black guitars. But my wife talked me into it and boy am I glad she did. I love the classic look of the bigsby tremolo and the hollow body sound. The neck feels good in your hand and its very light in weight. So not heavy like my Les Pauls.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
I play Southern Rock and Christian rock so this guitar fits into those generas very well. I love the sound, very wide mid range. The pick ups work well with a tube amp for sure. I played it through a solid state and a tube amp. Much better sound with the tube amp.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Very light weight easy to manuver around. Very comfortable on stage, can perform a whole gig with this one guitar, and your back wont be sore afterwords.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
Great tone, very clasic sound, smooth bright pick ups.
How did the stain or paint job look?
I just LOVE the Aspen Green.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I think I got exactly what I wanted in this guitar. If your looking at this guitar you will not be dissapointed in it at all. It performs well, looks hot, and plays well. I have gotten lots of compliments on mine.
How was the action out of the box?
I was very surprised to find that all I had to do was tune it up and it was ready to go. I figured I would have to dropp it off at the luthier 1st to set it up. But she was ready to go right out of the box.
