Customer Review Rate and Review this Product: 1 person wrote a review 2 people rated this item D Peter from USA Overall Ranking: Overall: Sound: Quality: Reliability: Action: Finish: Playability: Tone: Subject: A lot better than I was made to believe Quality: I trusted Guild enough to think there acoustics made in Mexico would not suffer in sound and quality and I was right. The bone nut and saddle are not cheaply made like some China imports. The finish was clean as was the bracing inside no overrun of glue or anything. Sound: Deep low end but not a bass response that over powers. High end really shines through which shows the quality of the wood and workmanship. Sounds great strummed or flat picked. Solid rosewood back and sides give the Guild DV6 a nice deep dark low end and snappy high. Reliability: Being new time will tell but I owned more than a few dreads and can tell the Guild is well made. Overall: I read as many forum posts that I could about the New Guild DV6. About everyone said the same made in Mexico bolt on neck..no good look for the few USA models that were made up to 2007. I found one on e bay but I don't trust e bay much any more to spend $800 there. So I went with the new Mexico made DV6 from AMS and hoped for the best if not I new I could return it. Well after the fast delivery I was very happy to find out most of the forum posters were wrong none really said they played the New model but assumed made in Mexico meant it was made poorly. Truth be known the quaility was super A+ for the DV6. A lot of fears of Guild making this in Mexico are unfounded Guild has a good quality control system in place.There made in the same part of Mexico as Taylor which is a stone throw across the border. Sure I would rather have Guild make this in the USA and wish they would but I found quality and sound does not suffer at all. Playability and Feel: Guild necks are pretty playable even with the 1 11/16th nut width. The neck is beefy enough for medium large hands but not oversized so a player with small hands could not play it. Tone: Tone is the best part of the Guild DV6 rosewood back and sides and sitka spruce top have that nice deep somewhat dark low end with high strings that blend perfectly. The DV6 is no wall flower it can be brought up to very loud volume with no buzz. Finish: I like this question if the Guild was painted I wouldn't look twice at it. But it does have a thin hand rubbed poly finish which looks very nice a heavy poly finish would be no good. So the thing hand rubbed gel poly finish really lets the sound ring like a weel finished acoustic shoukd. Action: Out of the box action was good the neck relief looks good so that won't need any adjustments. T here is plenty of saddle if I want to lower the action any.Looking the Guild DV6 over the breal angle at the saddle is good and if I do lower the action any it will more likely be at the nut as there is a little room to work with there and the action may only need to be lowered just a little if any.
