Hartke AC150 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier

Perfect to go from the coffee house to the night club, the Hartke AC150 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier is a two channel 150 watt acoustic guitar combo. Hartke has taken its experience in building great sounding bass amplifiers and brought it to the field of acoustic guitar amplification with the introduction of the Hartke AC150.

Hartke AC150 Acoustic Guitar Amplifier Features
  • 150 Watt Acoustic Guitar Combo
  • Four 5 inch Woofers and a 2 inch x 4 inch Ribbon High Frequency Transducer
  • 5 Band Graphic EQ
  • Phase Switch and Variable Notch Filter Feedback Control
  • 100 24-Bit Built-In Stereo Digital Effects
  • Effects Loop with Stereo Return and Stereo Direct Output
  • Precision Tuned Kickback Enclosure
Designed in a precision tuned Kickback enclosure, with four custom-voiced 5 inch full ranged drivers arranged in stereo, and a 2 inch by 4 inch ribbon tweeter, the AC150 naturally recreates the sound of the acoustic instrument without adding any unwanted coloration or distortion. Channel 1 has active and piezo instrument inputs, with bass and treble controls, while Channel 2 has XLR microphone and RCA line inputs. There is a 5 band graphic EQ and a built-in 100 preset 24-bit stereo digital effects processor, which can be routed to either channel.

The AC150 features a 150 watt tri-amped design, with 50 watts powering the left and right full range speakers and 50 watts powering the high frequency ribbon tweeter. To reduce feedback, there is a phase switch on channel 1 as well as a variable notch filter with depth control. On the rear panel of the amplifier there is an effects loop with stereo return, and stereo XLR direct outputs. Simply put, the Hartke Acoustic Ribbon amplifiers sound like your instrument, only louder.

Subject:Hartke AC150 Acoustic Combo
Quality: The quality of this amp is excellent. No issues.
Sound: The sound quality of the amplifier, in my opinion, is excellent. The 100 24-Bit Built-In Stereo Digital Effects are excellent and very usable. There is no diddling with effect knobs and switch to achieve the effect that will suite your style. I'm confident that you will find several effects that will work for you. Also check out the amp demo at http://www.joost.com/298000y/t/Hartke-AC150#id=298000y
Reliability: No reliability issues to date. Also Hartke offers a 3 year warranty with this amp.
Overall: First, I do not profess to be an acoustic amp expert and this review is my opinion and evaluation of the Hartke AC150. I play an Ovation Acoustic Guitar and I love the sound of this instrument. I also own two Fender Blues Deluxe amps, Three Reverend electric guitars, i.e., Roundhouse Flame Maple Top, Manta Ray Sun Burst Flame Maple and a Warhawk II. I have been playing for about 20 year and I'm amazed at the advances in acoustic amp technology and the integration of effects with the acoustic amp. I don't believe you will be disappointed with this amp. The AC150 very intuitive and the manual is very well written.
Playability and Feel: N/A
Tone: The AC150 has a 5 band QE plus a bass and trible tone control and can reproduce the sound of your acoustic instrument with any noise or distortion. Excellent tone. Buy a good quality instrument cable because acuostic instruments have a much higher frequency requirement than electric guitars.
Finish: This is a very sharp looking amp with no finish issues.
Action: The AC150 worked great out of the box, no issues.
Skill Level: Semi-Pro
