Hartke VXL Bass Attack Preamp Pedal

Hartke VXL Bass Attack Preamp and Bass Guitar Direct Box delivers Hartke’s Exclusive Shape Circuitry in an all-new professional pedal!
The VXL Bass Attack is built into an all steel chassis with two stomp-proof switches and LED status indicators. It features Hartke’s Variable Notch Shape Circuit with adjustable frequency, a three-band EQ with bass tuned center frequencies, a variable harmonic control circuit that emulates the warmth of a tube driver. Other features include Mix and Output level controls, On/Off and Shape In/Out switching for switching sounds during a performance, Pre/Post direct out with a balanced gold plated XLR output, and the Bass Attack will operate on either 9-volt battery, optional AC Adapter, or phantom power through the XLR. What took Hartke so long to design a bass pedal? Well, these things take time if you want to do it right!

Hartke VXL Bass Attack Features
  • VX tone shaping pre-amp/direct box
  • Famous Hartke shape circuitry
  • 3-band bass, treble and bright control
  • Harmonic control for tube drive emulation
  • Gold plated XLR direct output
  • Selectable pre, post or parallel 1/4-inch in and out
  • Rugged extruded aluminum stomp-box style construction
The Hartke Bass Attack Pedal is a tone-shaping pre-amp that doubles as a direct box, featuring the famous Hartke Shape Circuitry. The two-button style stomp box has a three band EQ for adjustments of Bass, Treble, and Bright controls, plus a Harmonic control that emulates the warmth and drive of a tube so well that you’ll never want to turn it off. The Hartke Bass Attack Pedal gives you the ability to finally get the sound you want, and everything in between.

Subject:Good box for a great price.
Quality: It seems solid to me. All metal with sturdy knobs and jacks. It's got alot of cool features.
Reliability: I've only had it for a short while but I can't see any reason why I won't be using this for a long time.
Overall: I'm very pleased with this thing. It only costs a little bit more than a passive direct box but you get so much more.
Playability and Feel: It's heavy, sits on the floor nicely.
Tone: You can get all kinds of tones from it. It's intuitive and easy to use. It also comes with a manual that has suggested pre-sets for different sounds.
Finish: It's black... can't go wrong with that.
Action: It's a DI box.
Skill Level: Semi-Pro

QUALITY:
Seems sturdy.

FEATURES:
Harmonics and mix control can dial up a convincing SVT.

EASE OF USE:
Function and interaction of controls defy logic.

VALUE:
For $70 it's worth having.

SOUND:
Capable of some good sounds but limited. Controls are not well thought out, making it virtually impossible to switch between sounds live. Okay if you set it and forget it.

STYLE:
Mainly old school R&B and Jazz.
