Hohner Blues Bender Harmonica allows everybody access to the bluesy notes needed to make any riff complete.
Designed primarily to make playing and note bending easy for entry level players, the Blues Bender features P.A.C. (P
overs) from the Marine Band Harmonica, the all time favorite amongst serious players since 1896.
A diatonic harmonica, the Blues Bender also features thicker than normal reed plates for a consistent tone. It is extremely airtight between the mouthpiece and the reed plates, allowing for easier note bending and making expressive playing easier.
Hohner Blues Bender Harmonica Features
- A professional instrument designed for those learning to play the blues
- Airtight construction for easier note bending
- P.A.C. (Patented Acoustic Cover) plates allow for greater volume and projection
- Thicker reed plates for consistent tone
- Long lasting reeds
Originally patented by Jacob Hohner in 1897, the special shape of the cover increases the volume of air enclosed between the reeds and cover-plates which, when thrown into vibration and vented through the special side vents, allows for greater volume and projection.
The reeds of Diatonic Harmonicas produce the notes of the scale to which they are tuned. For example, a diatonic harmonica tuned to the key of C would produce the natural notes of the C scale without sharps and flats (picture the white keys on a piano, without the black keys). Each hole has two reeds; one plays when breath is exhaled (blow) and the other when inhaled (draw). The individual reeds are each tuned to play a different note on the scale.
