Hughes & Kettner Tube Factor Distortion PedalThe Hughes and Kettner Tube Factor Overdrive Pedal delivers incredible tube tone!
Getting great sound out of a tube is no secret, just feed it lots of power and it will scream. That’s why the H&K Tube Factor Overdrive Pedal runs upwards of 300 volts to the internal tube circuitry and on-board 12AX7A. The Tube Factor generates all the dynamic range, response, and spectacular overtones you would expect from a classic tube amp because it is built like one. Stage ready in a very tough steel chassis, the Tube Factor features Drive and Output controls (to control the saturation and gain level), a Voicing control to go from vintage to vicious, and a Factor 1and 2 switch to select between two different overdrive stages for power chording and solo-time. You can use the Hard Bypass switch to go back to your original sound unaltered, but you probably won’t use that switch too much. If you want to give your amp a direct tube injection, the Tube Factor is the real deal. (Includes Power Supply)
Tube Factor represents a radically new execution of an age-old idea, that of the booster/overdrive pedal. What sets this new pedal apart from the offerings of the past is that it specializes in clean boost and neutral overdrive. In other words, Tube Factor effectively shows more respect for the individual character of the guitar and the subtle nuances of the player’s style. It accomplishes this through new technology employed in the device’s preamp stage, and through the use of a higher voltage (290 volts) than that employed by standard pedals. Due to the wider scale of voltage possible in the Tube Factor, you will experience a broader range of expressiveness and responsiveness from your existing guitar and amp.
Tube booster, distortion, driver or ranger-whatever the jargon, the bottom line is always the same:
mastering the dynamics and controlling the degree of saturation. And nothing is better suited to this purpose than a genuine, high-voltage tube-driven device. Like a big tube amp, the valve-based circuitry of the Tube Factor is fed upwards of 300 volts.
Why? Because the greater range of voltage translates into a greater range of dynamics. This is the only way the tube can develop the very properties that make it so desirable:
more overtones, more sensitive response, easier playability and enhanced tone.
Rather than experimenting with ill-advised amp modifications, the Tube Factor is the key to getting the hottest lead sounds for vintage amps and genuine tube tone for solid state combos-in effect, instant amp tuning-without the risk of internal modifications. Tonal enlargement without an operation.
With Factor 1 and Factor 2, the Tube Factor offers two selectable overdrive stages so that, for example, both a warm tube clean sound and blistering lead tone are available at the press of a switch.
Tube Factor High-octane fuel injection for every amp, fat lead tone and the sweet sound of tube saturation - not just for guitarists.
