Hughes & Kettner

The Hughes & Kettner TubeMeister 18 Guitar Amplifier Head is a 2 channel amp with a footswitchable boost on the lead for great versatility from crystal cleans to all out metal saturation. A four-step power soak allows you to select between 18, 5 and 1 watt as well as speaker mute. And courtesy of the built-in Red Box and silent recording capability, you can lay down pro-quality tracks at any time day or night.

For the TubeMeister 18 head, Hughes and Kettner packed all their know-how and over a quarter of a century‘s passion for tube amps into a remarkably compact chassis. Thanks to German engineering, it can go from a roar to a whisper, shaking the boards on stage, tingling spines in the studio, and raising goose-bumps in the still of night - even during silent recording.

awsome little head
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
its extremely versitile, I have owned it since they came out with it, and its built to extremely high standards
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
again its allmost 7 months I have owned it, and its been awsome, no issues at all
General
Your general opinion of this product.
I also own the extremely high and over priced duotone, which costs 6 times what this cost in american dollars, and ill be honest I sold the duotone, this little china deal has all the tone that had.......This will push your 4x12 with super ease, I have had this in front of 30 people, and on stage with me in front of thousands.....I want to add these come with the best DI in the industry, I have yet to find any company to beat the red box DI Hughes and Kettner has......I have swapped tubes for better tubes in this, and at the end of the day I went back to stock, it sounds better to me......effects loop is superb, I run a very pro rig and some of the most expensive stomps money can buy, and this loop is awsome......I run this head through a marshall vintage cab with 4 vintage pulsonic cone greenbacks, I also have a 2x12 with warehouse ET-65's, and it sounds fantastic through both cabs, it will do heavy well, cleans up nice when in the boost channel, I have no issues rolling the volume
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
its easy to use, and dials in tones with ease
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
it will do everything from great DR.Z snappy texas sounds to darker more Marshall JCM 800 sounds, its not an overall dark mesa style amp, but is voiced for the best of what Marshall ever had, its more of a marshall on steroids type sound, but the cleans are where it shine
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
blue LED's enough said
Action
How was the action out of the box?
played great from jump street, and just felt right, are there better amps, sure tone is subjective, but will you be happy?.....without a doubt its money well spent
