Ibanez AEG10NE Classical Acoustic Electric Guitar

The Ibanez AEG10NE Classical Acoustic Electric guitar is far from the traditional classical guitar.
The AEG10NE nylon string features a Fishman Sonicore pickup, Shape Shifter Equalizer, onboard tuner and a comfortable cutaway body with a 14th fret neck joint. It's the perfect guitar for the performing steel string player who needs nylon now. You can get the classical nylon sound while using your steel string technique. The new Ibanez AEQ SST Shape Shifter Equalizer is a fresh new design that lets you spend the bare minimum time tweaking controls and the absolute maximum time playing. It provides 3 band EQ with a true Loudness control and a phase reverse switch for feedback elimination. The AEG10NE is built with a spruce top, mahogany back & sides, and a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard.

Subject:Looks Great and it Sounds.. hmm. Well Read On!!
Quality: this classical guitar seems to get a lot of good reviews. Like many people I was unhappy with the set up among other things. The neck isn't as narrow as I expected.. the tone of the guitar (as a classical guitar) is dreadful. However, the fishman pickup and the ibanez eq electronics are very good. so good it actually has a slight learning curve. I was surprised at how dynamic it is. As a classical guitar I would rate this as an absolute zero.. However, I'm an electric guitar player who uses sofware like Guitar Rig 3 and Amplitube 2 (which emulates tube guitar amps). After a lot of twidling and messing around with this guitar, I have to admit that the strumming tones I'm getting are truly fantastic. Think acoustic version of Radioheads "Creep". Using Amplitube and Guitar Rig with the fishman pickup and Ibanez EQ I can get some totally original and professional sounds that I have only dreamed off.. the tone is great. very musical and artistic. I give it a 10 here.
Reliability: I've only had it a short time.. so only time will tell.. I don't expect it to fall apart.. its' an ibanez after all.
Overall: I'm not sure how I really feel about this guitar. OK quality with great electronics? I really see it as having no hope as a real classical at all. It sounds weak and feable to my ear. it's useless unplugged. A toneless wonder when trying to play classical songs. But with amp emulation software it projects a great warm organic strumming tone that is as good as any record I've ever heard. It gets a 10 for strumming tones and the neck isn't too hard to run around on. Very musical and it inspires me to sing. I'm reminded of early Bowie, Pink Floyd and Radiohead. if you have the time, you can tweak this thing to produce any rythmic tones you've ever dreamed off.. you could write a whole album with this guitar at the root it's so bold and filled with life. it really sounds that good with amp emulation software. It's easy to record too. I've recorded a few things and come back the next day to be blown away by the sound.
Playability and Feel: it plays ok.. the feel is ok.. most everyone who buys this guitar hates the action and has little gripes about it.. you need to work out the kinks and get the neck set up to play properly.. if you're an artist at heart, you can tweak this into a worhwhile instrument.. it looks great. if it came with a pro setup it would cost $250 more.
Tone: tone is not bright and snappy.. what a laugh. it's being sold as a classical.. a real classical guitar player would be confused at what he was playing.. it's weak and horrible for single note classical riffs. don't think of it a classical.. think of it as a tool for making art and you would be closer to the truth.
Finish: the finish is beautiful indeed. workmanship all around is excellent. you'd be proud to stand on stage and have people see you play this guitar.. when you strum chords it sounds so good, you'll be inspired to write a love song for your sweatheart. It's lightweight and easy to handle.
Action: the action is just ok.. could be better.. certainly no professional set up here.. they put the strings on an walked away.. nothing more. I'm a little let down by Ibanez in that sense, because they never do that except with their ultra cheapie products. the workmanship is classic Ibanez and if you're willing to work out it's problems you are getting a great deal. Put the work into it and there is no reason you couldn't make a professional album with this guitar. the right person can convert this into a guitar thats equal to any guitar that costs a grand.

Quality: Very good quality over all. This guitar feels like it's solid wood all around.
Reliability: Very reliable nice tuner on the side. Very accurate and nice eq as well. Range of tone.
Overall: I like this guitar alot altho i would like the action to be a tad better. Especially for the low e string at the first fret if you dont control your picking. It will make some noise. So i guess it's good since it has made my playing cleaner since i have to control the attack on the string to keep from buzzing
Playability and Feel: This neck feels indestructible. Very solid and slimmer. Love it.
Tone: Very nice tone while using an amp. Acoustically is a little weak.
Finish: Very nice black paint job. And the rossete around the soundhole is pretty.
Action: As i said the action could be better just control your strumming and picking to avoid this. But maybe it's just my guitar. I am gonna try hard tension strings which should fix this problem.

Subject:Jazz with a classical
Quality: The finish is excellent, a lot better than one would think. The neck is straight, the frets polished and genuinely something to be proud of on stage.
Reliability: So far there have been no problems with the electronics but the ONLY thing to complain about is the tuners. Seems to be a thing with Korean built Ibanez's and even Epi's that they don't hold tune very well. Also could be string age, (haven't changed them yet) and the fact I play outdoors alot here in So. AZ. I also recommend an external digital tuner. I'm not crazy about the onboard tuner. It'll get you close but if you have ears like mine it's not close enough.
Overall: I was looking for THE sound as I have switched to jazz and this guitar gives me the Pter white, Craig Chacico sound I've been looking for. All reviewers write that it isn't loud acoustically and I agree, you need to plug it in to get the best out of it. I bought it to do so anyway. I just run it through my Zoom 9.2 into my Carvin Bel Air 2X12.
Playability and Feel: Playability is very good and that comes from some one who hasn't played an acoustic much since the late 60's to early 70s. The neck is thinner than a normal classical so transition to and from an electric is very easy. The controls are VERY effective. Plus, the tone shaper keeps the feedback away.
Tone: Tonewise, it sounds just like any nylon on any jazz recording and you get that sound live. The tone controls work to get you very usable tones.
Finish: The finish is flawless, a lot better than you'd think on a $300 guitar. No scratches, dings, or smudges.
Action: Amazingly the action was perfect out of the box. This makes going from acoustic to electric very easy during the night.

QUALITY:
I was completely surprised by the quality of this guitar. Construction is flawless, and finish is excellent.

FEATURES:
The electronics are very good and the binding on this guitar is fantastic.

EASE OF USE:
Plays great !

VALUE:
Here is where this guitar shines. You are not going to find another acoustic / electric nylon string guitar with cutaway and electronics at this price. At double it's retail price it would still be a steal.

SOUND:
Acoustically this is no Martin or Taylor, but it's made for the electric player who wants to plug in for the nylon sound, and it does it's job. Plugeed in it sounds great.
