Product Description

A visual masterpiece that is designed for demanding bassists! The Ibanez BTB1405E Premium 5 String Bass Guitar is a high quality crafted instrument with professional features and gorgeous tonewoods. To start, the 35 inch scale means slightly increased tension, particularly to the lower strings, negating any sense of string floppiness. The super-deep cutaway provides a musical invitation in the form of access to an entire higher octave.

Turn the BTB1405E Premium bass over and you’ll see a 7-piece Maple/Bubinga/Walnut neck that is a true masterpiece. With its mahogany body, and a select AAA grade figured Maple top, the Ibanez BTB1405E is as visually striking as it is rewarding to play. The precision crafted thru-neck construction, a Rosewood fretboard, and the Mono-Rail IV bridge, all contribute to the BTB1405E’s musical liveliness.

Slide your hand up and down the fingerboard and you’ll notice the smoothness of the fret edges. That’s part of what Ibanez calls the ‘Premium Treatment.’ The hand rolled frets, the product of a skilled hand-crimping process that produces noticeably smooth fret edges. Nordstrand Big Single pickups provide a full, loud, and aggressive single-coil tone.

General
What is your overall opinion of this product?
This is a very nice Bass. Active electronics are awesome.
Quality
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
As much as Ibanez says they work on making the fret ends smooth, this one must have missed a final inspection somewhere, its rough enough to feel when your finger runs over it. Still, it's quite nice for a mass produced instrument.
Features
Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features?
There are enough knobs and switches to keep a jet pilot happy.
Feel
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck feels nice, quite a bit larger than the Jazz Bass that I started playing on.
Tone
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
There are those knobs again. Turn them until the desired tone comes out. It's quite adjustable.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Natural wood oil stain finish. couldn't be nicer.
Value
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I think it's a good value for the money. Very good construction, great electronics, and a really slick gigbag with shoulder straps.
Playability
How was the action out of the box?
Plays nice. The action is a bit higher than Im used to but this is my first 5 string.
