Ibanez JS100 Joe Satriani Signature Electric Guitar

The Ibanez Joe Satriani JS100 features a very cool sculpted basswood body that may be the most comfortable guitar you'll ever play.

The pickups are IBZ AH1 (neck) & AH2 (bridge) humbuckers, chosen for their tonal versatility, equally perfect for leads and rhythm.

Other details include a rosewood fretboard, a 1-piece maple neck, an Ibanez Edge-Pro II double locking tremolo system and a coil-tap switch for single coil tones. The Edge III trem offers the similar feel and design to the famous, original Edge trems but with lower profile tuners for greater right-hand comfort.

It took many years to create guitars that could satisfy the Master of Tone - but the results have been worth it. Joe Satriani's signature guitars aren't simply a tribute to the man who has kept the torch burning for instrumental rock, they're the perfect vehicle for an artist who can put as much intensity into a whole note as he does with a light speed phrase.

The JS100's pickups were chosen for the perfect blend of tones. The neck pickup is an Ibanez Axis AH1. It's a very responsive, full-sounding, ceramic-magnet humbucker with medium output. It has lots of character and it's excellent for recording. In the bridge position, you'll find an Axis AH2. This Alnico-5-magnet pickup provides full bass sound with clear harmonics and excellent articulation.

Key Features (JS)
  • Lightweight, aerofoil-shaped basswood body provides comfort, upper fret access and expressive, singing tone.
  • Combination of 25 1/2 inch neck scale and Ibanez Axis pickups allows wide dynamic range and tonal versatility.
  • Equipped with the Edge III double locking tremolo system.

Overall: I've two black JS100s I've been using for the past two years. They are great guitars, especially considering the price. Fast necks, good action and won't kill your back. I did cheat a little, I replaced the humbuckers with Gibson 57 Pluses.... Now that I've swapped the pickups, this guitar will never leave my side.

Overall: First I'll Explain My ratings: Quality: ** - It's not solid Mohogany... it's several pieces glued together... The "locking" nut slips a bit. Stays in tune fairly well... but not as much as I would hope. The Floyd is kinda cheap. I gave up using the tremlo much because it's far more suseptible to going out of tune when used. This is the case for most guitars with floating trems... but it's extra true of this guitar. Features ***** - It's loaded. Ease Of Use **** - It would rate higher if it would stay in tune. Value * - There are MUCH better guitars on the market for the price. GEEZ $669? You're paying for Joe's name... and the way it's stamped on the 22nd fret it takes away from the guitar anyway. I wanted a nice Ibanez S, but this is all I could afford at the time. The JS1000's are MUCH better value and can be found at used for around $600 in good shape. Reliability - If it stays in tune it's fine. In summary: I've had the JS100 for around a year. The problems with t
