| It's well constructed and very dependable...so far. I have no intention of throwing this amp out of an airplane or off the back of a pickup truck, but I'm sure it'll survive a few bumps and bashes from a nightclub or rehearsal space. | | Reliability:
| It's holding up well. Doesn't overheat or "numb" the sound after playing a few hours. | | Overall:
| It's good, but i wish these newfangled modeling amps didn't have multi-function buttons. I understand the need for 'em, but they do become cumbersome after a while. Also, it'd be nice to just plug in and play without having to go through a technical manual for help. | | Playability and Feel:
| This is not a guitar. It has no neck. It's front panel controls are, however, easy to tweak. | | Tone:
| yes, it's bright & snappy. yes, it's also dark. Smooth? Well, to be honest, it's not a tube amp. The distortions are digital re-creations. You could only get so smooth with a digital re-creation. This amp is up against modeling combo competition like the Peavey Vypyr, Vox, Behringer and Line 6 models. I like the distortion on the Line 6 and the numerous effects on the Vypyr. I also like the bigger cabinet & 12" speaker on the Vypyr, but since it's an unpredictable amp (turns itself off, dammit!) it has no real-world function. I like the tube preamp on the Vox but I've never cared for "hidden" controls, that is, controls on top of or behind an amp. The Behringer models don't allow you to tweak the effects to your liking. The Mimx 30's effects are crystal clear. The manual doesn't say but there must be a noise gate somewhere in the amp that's always on. Plugged in you hear practically no noise. | | Finish:
| Paint job is fine. No complaints. | | Action:
| Again, no neck, so no action to speak of. | | Skill Level:
