Ibanez RG2228 Prestige 8 String Electric Guitar with Case

The Ibanez RG2228 Prestige 8 String Electric Guitar is where the Big boys play!
The RG2228 is equipped with an all-new 8-string version of the EFX bridge which combines fixed bridge sustain with the double-locking stability needed for extreme metal styles. Hot EMG 808 pickups, a very stable neck and the over the top (and bottom) extended range of this guitar allow you to play the heaviest of heavy riffs and solo to new heights!

A few words about Ibanez…
Without a doubt Ibanez is one of the world’s foremost guitar manufacturers. The Modern Era of Ibanez guitars began in 1957 and since then they have enjoyed incredible success. They continue to experiment with edgy designs and finishes but have never lost track of their roots. Their amazing Artcore line of hollowbodies are some of the most sought after guitars in the world and their RG line is a must-have for rock and metal fans alike. And don’t discount their bass guitars, cherished by musicians the world over. This is a company that can do it all - straight-ahead rock models, elegant hollow bodies and everything in between. They even have a nice line of pedals and accessories that pros and amateurs have grown to love. Find out for yourself why some performers won’t play anything else but Ibanez.

Subject:It's ALIVE!
Quality: Firstly, my apology and much applause for AMS customer service in expediting a replacement shipment as UPS ate the original in Jacksonville. My first 7 String was an old UV7 which is very similar in aesthetics and design. Quality is excellent.
Reliability: Since I have modified tuning and strings, its reliability will be tested. My playing is chordal ala a solo piano bar gig (i.e. 'All the things you are' in Fm with walking bass). Hence the EBADGE tuning using low .095/.075 GHS flats off a short scale bass.
Overall: Over the years I have modified my UV7P, AF-207, Schecter Jazz7, Dean DN76 and others. Finally, years ago, I had Bill Moll build me an 18" hand-carved 7 String Archtop. I ordered the RG2228 for no other reason but to replace the 6th E which limited by 'lines' when sitting in with others.
Playability and Feel: The neck is slim and comfortable. I had the same tactile sensation when I went from 6 to 7 strings, now 7 to 8. Forgive me but my left hand posture is that of a cellist, not a pipefitter, so all notes are accessible.
Tone: It is ALIVE! After a fast tune, I tried some 'tapping' and 'hammers' and 'pull-offs'. The sound was astoundingly sensitive and vibrant. It didn't hurt coming through a Crate RX200 Bass stack (2-10's & an 18").
Finish: Excellent finish and quality. The case is very nice although I am spoiled by Bill Moll's "Emergency Flotation Device" molded fiberglass flight case.
Action: Action was adequate although it will need to be adjusted after I ream out the two lower tuning pegs to secure the .084/.075 GHS flats that will be installed. You might want to alert Ibanez that I am diverting away from their marketing strategy.
