| Subject: | It's ALIVE! |
| Quality:
| Firstly, my apology and much applause for AMS customer service in
expediting a replacement shipment as UPS ate the original in Jacksonville. My first 7 String was an old UV7 which is very similar in aesthetics and design. Quality is excellent. |
| Reliability:
| Since I have modified tuning and strings, its reliability will be tested. My playing is chordal ala a solo piano bar gig (i.e.
'All the things you are' in Fm with walking bass). Hence the EBADGE tuning using low .095/.075 GHS flats off a short scale bass. |
| Overall:
| Over the years I have modified my UV7P, AF-207, Schecter Jazz7,
Dean DN76 and others. Finally, years ago, I had Bill Moll build me an 18" hand-carved 7 String Archtop. I ordered the RG2228 for no other reason but to replace the 6th E which limited by 'lines'
when sitting in with others. |
| Playability and Feel:
| The neck is slim and comfortable. I had the same tactile sensation when I went from 6 to 7 strings, now 7 to 8.
Forgive me but my left hand posture is that of a cellist, not a pipefitter, so all notes are accessible. |
| Tone:
| It is ALIVE! After a fast tune, I tried some 'tapping' and 'hammers' and 'pull-offs'. The sound was astoundingly sensitive and vibrant. It didn't hurt coming through a Crate RX200 Bass stack (2-10's & an 18"). |
| Finish:
| Excellent finish and quality. The case is very nice although I am spoiled by Bill Moll's "Emergency Flotation Device" molded
fiberglass flight case. |
| Action:
| Action was adequate although it will need to be adjusted after I ream out the two lower tuning pegs to secure the .084/.075 GHS flats that will be installed. You might want to alert Ibanez that
I am diverting away from their marketing strategy. |

| Subject: | This is the ultimate metal guitar Meshuggah can't be wrong! |
| Quality:
| The build quality is excellent as with all of the prestige products. the finsh is awesome from the frets to the paint. the neck has a killer satin finis almost feels unfinished. the emg pick ups are specifically designed for this guitar, and the paint is very glossy. you couldn't possibly go wrong with this axe. It has the edge fixed bridge a la Mick Thomson the mtm1, just in a 8 string format. good sustain good attack. |
| Reliability:
| Up to now this has proven very reliable, i have had mine for 2 months. stays in tune, i can do tuning changes like i tuned mine to f tuning from the f# it came with so the e and the e are E flat stays there no problem. |
| Overall:
| I like meshuggah and divine heresy, so this was a guitar i needed to emulate the style of those 2 bands. Ultra low chugging and still retains the definition without muddiness. |
| Playability and Feel:
| Light, fast, thin neck. I don't notice the actual mass of the neck while playing. |

| Subject: | An amazing instrument! |
| Quality:
| This guitar is one of the best instruments I have ever played. Stunning craftsmanship. |
| Reliability:
| I've only had it for a week but I'm sure it will last forever. |
| Overall:
| This is such an amazing guitar. It's so fun to play and you can get really creative with it. Really well made and comes with an awesome hard shell case. I have a real hard time putting it down. |
| Playability and Feel:
| Not as heavy as it looks and the neck is super slim and makes playing all those strings seem effortless. |
| Tone:
| Dark, low end madness. A must for any musician looking to get the ultimate metal sound. The deepest chugs you've ever heard and scorching highs for solos. |
| Finish:
| Beautiful. Glittery black and pretty unique. |
