Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Have only owned it for a month or so, but it seems like it could hold up to some wear & tear. Everything seems solid to me.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Again, have only owned it a month.
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
Waited for years to find an RG model with a fixed bridge and the h/s/h pickup configuration. Finally found this guitar. Couldn't be happier. Looks great, sounds killer, and seems put together really well.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Similar in feel to the ESP and Jackson/Charvel I own. Light, maneuverable, not awkward at all. I prefer the Ibanez neck to the one on my ESP. And I prefer the scale length of it to the one on my Charvel. In total, the most enjoyable to play of the three. Ibanez should eliminate the tone knob like they do on the PGM models. It's somewhat of a waste.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Thicker gauge strings made a big difference in tone. I've often heard people complain about INF pickups, however I have no gripe with their sound. I will someday swap them out for some Dimarzios as I have on my other two guitars, but for now they sound fine. Excellent for hard rock/metal and pretty damn good for blues and jazz/fusion.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
No stain or paint, natural unfinished wood. Looks fantastic, however should have had a coat of tung oil or polyeurothane on it to protect it. The wood is nice and smooth but somewhat soft and could be stained very easily. My only gripe with this guitar.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action was nice and low, however there was a significant bend in the neck and I don't like the lighter gauge strings. Had a top notch luthier do a set up for me, retro fit it with the Buzz Feiten tuning system, and installed some better strings on it. Now it plays like a dream.
