Product Description

Ibanez is the choice of 7 string guitarists because of the reputation of the RG series line. The modern RG7420 is very expressive as you easily play your screaming riffs. Cloaked in midnight black, the RG7420 basswood body is complemented by its ebony fingerboard, appointed with bend-friendly jumbo frets.

As the originators of the thin, fast neck, the Wizard II-7 neck is a point of pride for the Ibanez luthiers. Their design accommodates the added tension of the extra string, yet still provides the level of comfort that translates into maximizing player performance.

The proprietary AH humbucking pickups yield a whole palette of thick, distorted tone textures. But few things can better animate a guitar performance than the Ibanez Edge Zero II-7 tremolo system. Responsive, as well as reliable, this trem is the envy of the industry. The Edge Zero II is a lower profile designed tremolo for playing comfort, and stud lock function for stable tuning.

Overall Rating
Awesome 7- String!
What is your overall opinion of this product?
This is a great mid-range 7 string! The quality is very good with good action and set up well at the factory! The finish is lovely and it is a pleasure to play! The pickups aren't bad for the price but you ay want to upgrade pickups for better tone. Overall it is a great guitar with great value.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
The quality for the price is excellent! Works well with Progressive rock and metal
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The guitar has a great feel to it. The action is nice and the neck is very comfortable.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
The tone is ok for stock pickups. I actually swapped out the pickups for some Dimarzio Crunch Lab 7 and Liquifire pickups, sounds amazing!
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish looked great!
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
The price for this guitar was an excellent value in my opinion. Definitely worth the price. Perhaps even a littl better mad and quality than similar guitars in this price range.
How was the action out of the box?
The action was wonderful right out of the box. The strings were low-action and the intonation was spot on. The tremolo was flush with the body.
