Ibanez

The Ibanez RGA8 8 String Electric Guitar not only has hot curves but playability. For live performance, its lightweight body gives players more freedom to prowl around stage. The arched top also lets players to knock down heavy riffs and power chords without hitting the guitar body. All told, curved beauty and great performance combine gracefully and powerfully in the RGA.

The RGA series was introduced to satisfy the demand from players who wanted an RG with a fixed bridge. Ibanez went further and gave these double humbucker beauties an arched top (the A in RGA). The RGA's fixed bridge is distinguished by an extra strong Gibraltar bridge, which stays completely stable under the most aggressive attacks and is excellent handling low tunings. RGA archtops also include a new trem model for 2010.

Ibanez RGA8 Features:
  • Thin Wizard II neck
  • Arch-topped mahogany bodies for tonal warmth, strong sustain and playing comfort
  • Equipped with fat and strong active Ibanez LoZ3 pickups
  • All RGA's except RGA32 use an Active EQ circuit with simple-to-operate on-off switch to provide pure tone free of noise
  • Gibraltar Standard fixed bridge offers smooth playing comfort and maximum vibration transfer

It's a nice guitar, needs adjustments
    Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Its my first ibanez and I'm pretty happy with my decision to get it. Thanks to AMS for their payment plan I finally got my 8 string I've been wanting for awhile now! It's well made but there are some things I will have to change.
    Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've had it for maybe 3 weeks so we will see. It's a very sturdy piece of equipment and I feel like I will be playing it for a long time.
    General
Your general opinion of this product.
I was super excited just to receive it. It is a nice looking guitar but I noticed a couple of flaws when I first played it. The action was very high and the pickups are going to have to be changed out. There isn't any life in them. I still have a lot of fun playing it though.
    Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
It's just as heavy as my Jackson RR1 I think. I still have yet to take it in so I can lower the action on it. I'm very sure it can be lower then what it came as. There is only a volume and pickup selector on it and they are easy to get to.
    Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Like I said before I'm going to get the pickups changed out for sure. The sound they produce just isn't very appealing to me. It's something I noticed right away.
    Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Paint job is as good as an all black guitar can be.
    Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action was high. I have a USA made Jackson I've had for about 6 years and never really was happy with the feel of it. It just didn't compare to some of the ones from the 80's I had tried before. That being said, compared to the ibanez my Jackson feels like a Ferrari. Hopefully I can get it to a comfortable level and I can get it to feel a little faster. I still have a lot of fun playing it!
