Product Description

The Ibanez S571DXQM features the beautiful sculpted lightweight body of the renowned S series guitars. The body is made of mahogany which is stronger and more musically responsive than guitars weighing twice as much.

The S571DXQM is cloaked in a quilted maple top with dramatic gray burst finish and a bound rosewood fretboard with jumbo frets. Lurking beneath the S Series graceful 3-D shape is mahogany specifically chosen for S Series instruments. Light enough to amaze in terms of comfort, heavy enough to provide the tone and sustain that players expect from the S Series.

As the originators of the thin, fast neck, the Wizard III neck is yet another achievement in playability, providing the kind of comfort that translates to responsiveness and speed. The best of all worlds humbucker/ single-coil/ humbucker configuration provides an impressive palette of tone textures. The Gibraltar bridge provides a super-stable anchor, minimizing string contact and optimizing vibration.

Wizard III Maple neck
Ibanez's thin, flat, and fast, yet strong and sturdy, Wizard neck offers unlimited playability for demanding players, and features a two-octave 24-fret fret board for wide tonal range.

Infinity Pickups
The Infinity pickups provide excellent tone and dynamics with great versatility.

Not as great as I hoped
What is your overall opinion of this product?
I expected better workmanship. The fret finish was quite rough. After getting the neck adjusted (see below) I played and bent notes all up and down the neck. This managed to smooth them out to my satisfaction, but a new guitar shouldn't have rough frets. Also, the fret edges along the fingerboard are sharp and annoying. Might require a file down.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
The pickups are interesting. Still getting used to them. I don't intend to change them.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck had zero relief so everything was buzzing on notes below the fifth fret. I'm experienced with this type of thing and was able to adjust the truss rod. **WARNING** The manual has the truss rod adjusting instructions backwards! The opposite of the direction it should be.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
I like positions 2, 3, and 4 on the selector. The neck pickup alone is too muddy. The bridge pickup alone is pretty good, but requires (for me) a different amp setting.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I thought a mid-line Ibanez without a tremelo would be higher quality. Nope.
How was the action out of the box?
Action out of the box was too easy. Like against the first four frets.
