Product Description

The SIR27FD guitar which is part of the made-for-metal Iron Label line has the form and function of the renowned Ibanez S Series 7-string guitars. Cloaked in an Iron Pewter finish and sleek bound rosewood fretboard makes for a dramatic silhouette. Lurking beneath the S Series’ graceful 3-D shape is mahogany specifically chosen for the S Series instruments.

The SIR27FD guitar is amazingly light for comfort and heavy enough to provide the tone and sustain that the S Series is known for. As the originators of the thin, fast neck, the Nitro Wizard neck is yet another achievement in playability, providing the kind of comfort that translates to responsiveness and speed. The best-of-all-under-worlds DiMarzio PAF-7s provides an impressive palette of distorted tone textures.

General
What is your overall opinion of this product?
first off I want to say that ams needs to greatly improve on customer service as far as their phone operators are concerned.there was issue with the bank that issued my credit card,so it took a couple of phone calls to check up on and resolve this matter, and every time I called the operators were very rude and dismissive.having said that, the guitar itself is amazing.and far more versatile than the iron label moniker would suggest.
Quality
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
the guitar is very well constructed.you will be extremely surprised at how sturdy a guitar so thin can be.easily the most well put together Ibanez ive ever played.
Feel
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
the neck is very thin flat and fast.the frets do stick out a tiny bit on the bottom of the neck, but not nearly enough to make it an issue.its surprisingly a little heavy, but only because of the thinness of it,you would expect it to be on the lighter side.the bridge is quite bulky but it does not take long to get used to it at all.
Tone
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
the dimarzio pickups sound great.they are passive so it might take a few minutes to dial in a tone you like but once you do you will not be disappointed.however too much gain on them will make the low end almost inaudible.the neck and parallel neck configurations give very smooth clean tones with very little reverb or anything needed.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
the finish is very strinking.its also a lot more sparkly than the pictures would suggest.the white binding compliments the iron pewter finish very well.
Value
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
its an excellent value.ive only scratched the surface on its capabilities.i have friend who has an iron label rg series and both iron label models offer an incredible value right out of the box.
Playability
How was the action out of the box?
the action was pretty bad out of the box,but what can you expect when you have a guitar shipped to the far north in January? lol.a few minor tweeks and it was resolved for the most part.i would recommend taking it to an authorized dealer to have it set up and get some neck adjustments done as I am going to do the first chance I get.
