Ibanez SR300F Fretless Electric Bass Guitar

Fast and versatile, the SR300 fretless bass guitar lays down grooves in every style imaginable. Featuring a 3 band style sweeper EQ with a lightweight balanced comfortable contoured body, you have pro features at an entry level price. The extended range travel on the narrow neck is as physically comfortable as it is musically exhilarating. Plus the EXF pickups have equal spacing between pickup to string for balanced output levels. To control your tone, you have a volume and balance knob, style sweeper finger step knob and a treble and bass boost/cut knob.

Second bass hit!

Quality:

Well... this is NOT a $1800 bass, and you shouldn't expect it to be. But you don't get six-times more bass for $1800. This is a solid, well-made instrument. One of my complaints about other makers' lower-end instruments is the way they cut corners with things like tuners, knobs and jacks. While I'm sure the top-end Ibanez basses have better hardware, the pieces on the SR300F are very solid, and look very dependable. The jack is solid, with no wiggle, and the bridge is better than you have any right to expect on an instrument of this price. And the ebonol fingerboard is just amazing.

Features:

While the SR300F could really benefit from active pickups and preamp, the Ibanez-branded passive pickups are really quite good. It has two pickups, five knobs (the bass and treble controls are stacked) and did I mention the fingerboard?

Sound:

This is a surprisingly nice-sounding bass, with a wide range of colours, thanks to the pickup sweep and the wide tone controls. It ranges from dark chocolate to brassy. It COULD be improved, but probably not at this price.

Playability and Feel:

This is a lightweight bass that you can hang around your neck for hours. The neck is a thing of beauty -- thin, shallow and fast -- and ideal for solos, though probably a bit tight for Bootsy Collins-style slapping.

My only gripe is that it only comes in white. Having said that, I could not find a single flaw. Ibanez does a great job of quality on its lower-end instruments, and this is no exception. The fingerboard and inlays are very well done.

Action:

Very well set up. One of the nice things about a fretless is that you can fudge the notes a bit, but this is bang-on. It is fast and easy to play.

Playability and feel was mindblowing !! light, super light.. very fast neck, course, that is what ibanez is known for !!

Has a nice bridge p/u growl thats smooth and cuts, and when using the neck p/u, its mean smooth and low

Flawless !!! I had just purchased a scratch and dent model and when I received it, I could not find one, not that it mattered, its not the finish that concerns me, its the playability !!

Action:

Eye candy that could make a grown man blush !! AMS has awesome, impeccable service and shipping which to say the least, better than mostly all music chains... we know who they... are !!
