| Bad ass axe for the price |
| Quality |
| Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? |
| Like all of my other Jacksons, this seems like it will hold up great. |
|
| Reliability |
| How has it stood up over time? |
| It is only two months old, so far so good. |
|
| Overall |
| Your general opinion of this product. |
| I am partial to Jacksons, so I love this thing. Price was awesome and it play great. Some argue that bolt-on necks sound better that thru-body on Jackson guitars, but I actually prefer this to the bolt-on. |
|
| Playability and Feel |
| How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? |
| Wish it had a toggle instead of the bladed switch, but that is a preference rather than a complaint. I do not play extended lightning-fast leads, so i cannot judge the overall neck response to that effect, but for the fat boxy shit I play, with a few quick progressions, it works for me. |
|
| Tone |
| Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? |
| The previous review was right- the neck pickup sucks. It is usable, but it is muddy rather than the fat tone you might want. Either change it out or use with the bridge and it sort of balances the tone. Goosing it with your amp's EQ is possible but only at the expense of the bridge pickup. The bridge pickup is hot enough. Just don't expect the wicked tone of an 81/85 configuration. This is a moderate-high gain setup and should be used as such. |
|
| Finish |
| How did the stain or paint job look? |
| Wicked as hell. It does have more yellow than the picture shows (which I like much more), but I bought it after playing it in a store so I knew what it would look like. |
|
| Action |
| How was the action out of the box? |
| Right off the rack it played great. Didn't expect anything less from Jackson- even their low-end guitars play great. |

| Overall |
| Your general opinion of this product. |
| Overall it's great!! I plan to buy another in a different color. You couldn't build it yourself for less. |
|
| Playability and Feel |
| How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? |
| The only things this guitar needs are: a brass sustain block, and a better bridge pickup.Once you set it up, (action-intonation)it plays as well as my USA custom Soloist. |
|
| Tone |
| Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? |
| The EMG HZ bridge pickup is a piece of crap. It's very dead with no character. I changed it out for a Dimarzio H2N. Now it kicks total a$$! The neck blends pretty well and is smooth overall. |
|
| Finish |
| How did the stain or paint job look? |
| Very nice finish. The center haas more yellow than the picture but it looks really good. |
|
| Action |
| How was the action out of the box? |
| Needs to be adjusted to player's taste. (AS do all guitars out of the box) Action was pretty good to start with though. |
