JBL JRX115 PA Speaker

The JBL JRX115 is a 15-inch two-way front-of-house speaker, which handles 1,000 watts peak power capacity and 250 watts continuous.

JBL designed the popular JRX100 series for cost-conscious musicians, DJs and other users of live sound reinforcement speakers.

All full-range models feature Neutrik® Speakon® and quarter inch input connectors. JRX100 cabinets are constructed of carpet-covered, .75-inch MDF - a material that is structurally and acoustically superior to the particleboard that is used by many competitive products. To minimize distortion, heavy gauge wire is used for inductors and SonicGuard™ high-frequency driver protection guards against damage caused by inadvertent overpowering of the system.

The JRX115 and JRX112M's innovative, new dual-angle pole socket allows them to be mounted in either a conventional, vertical position, or with a 10 degree down angle. By aiming the speaker down, you get more even audience coverage and reduce the destructive acoustic reflections from walls.

JBL constructs the JRX enclosures with advanced adhesives and closely mechanically spaced fasteners, not just glue. They use non-resonant, all metal handles, and an 18-gauge, full metal grille. All JRX100 models have passed the same 100-hour, full rated-power torture test that JBL high-end touring systems must survive.

Subject:Good for the price but don't overpower them!
Quality: I have 2 of these. I got them in December 2007. I've done about 8 or 10 gigs with them. I was driving them with a 300 watt amp. I bought a 500 watt amp to drive these to reduce the distortion. On my last gig (June 2008), I blew the compression drivers in both speakers with the 500 watt amp in stereo @ 8ohms. These speakers are rated for 250 to 500 watt amp. It says so right on the speaker! I replaced the compression drivers with Selenium D220Ti-8 drivers. It's like I have a completely different set of speakers now. The frequency response is amazing. So my suggestion is to be careful how hard you drive these speakers because they cannot handle the maximum power they are rated for. If you don't mind upgrading the compression drivers, then these are great speakers.
Features: The speakon and 1/4 inch connectors are a nice feature so you can use either type of cable. Otherwise, they are pretty standard speaker boxes.
Ease of Use: The manual for these speakers is not helpful because it rates them at 250 - 500 watts but with the stock compression drivers, these speakers cannot handle 500 watts. If you see them lighting up (the crossovers have clip lights in them) then you know you are at the limit that these speakers can handle and you should back down the output.
Sound: Well, when I first got these, I thought they sounded great. Then I bought a set of Yamaha BR12's and the Yamaha's actually sound a little better. I switched the 300 watt amp over to the yamaha's and got a 500 watt amp for these and they still didn't sound as good. Then the compression drivers blew. However, since upgrading the compression drivers in these, they sound spectacular. Since the upgrades, I run these speakers at 500 watts and the clip lights inside the cabinets don't light up at all.

For this price range the JBL JRX115 cab is hard to beat. The cab seems heavy duty and the woofer produces a nice low end. The horn on this cab could have alittle more high end but overall it is nice.

FEATURES:
The 1/4" and the speakon connections are nice.

VALUE:
Great speaker for the price.

SOUND:
Nice low and mid-range. The horn could have a little more sparkle to it but overall is nice.

I actually have the soundfactor model, but of course its the same drivers. A very well made enclosure (solid) the other guys are right, the horn could be better quality but they under $300.00 so quality to price-- good

FEATURES:
your basic speaker nothing complicated (speakon) connections are good

EASE OF USE:
basic-- see above

VALUE:
a good value, I have had to replace compression driver, but other than that great buy

SOUND:
sound pretty good, the compression drivers only weak area

OVERALL:
A good overall speaker, nothing outstanding-but for the money can't complain, just don't push them too hard or the compression drivers will blow! The cabinet is well built, a little heavy but thats the MDF. I think I will probably go with the MP pro series next time for the better compression drivers!

Holdin' Up pretty well and we've been giggin' with them about twice a week at different venues.

FEATURES:
Great sound for the money. I like that they can handle decent power, I run a Yamaha EMX68S with them and they handle the power no prob. Great for Mid-Size venues and easy to truck around.

EASE OF USE:

VALUE:
Absolutely! I bought these locally and paid even less for them than here. I am going to buy another set, and I've already purchased the JRX125's.. They are incredible as well for the money.

SOUND:
Excellent. Agreed with the other posts that the horns could use a bit more sparkle. But for the money they sound incredible.

QUALITY:
Solidly built and does not feel or look like it's cheap

FEATURES:
Neutrik/Speakon connection sounds very clean. The two pole mount holes are a great feature that allows you greater flexibility in placing speakers.

EASE OF USE:
This speaker weighs 61lbs so get some help pole mounting it. Other than the weight it is very straightforward. The handles are easy to grip.

VALUE:
I paid only $219 with free shipping for a scratch & dent but their wasn't any scratches or dents on my speaker. What a deal! The JBLs have name brand recognition which is critical to your audience knowing that the DJ they have hired is using the "good" stuff!

SOUND:
Deep Bass response. Clean highs. Midrange could be better. Still this is a very clean sounding JBL for the price
