Quality: Like I said the finish seems very durable! Very well built. Not rough on the eyes to looe at either. Features: Well built! The finish looks awsome and very durable! And for the size of the sub it is light! Ease of Use: Very easy plug and play. Sound: Drops very deep. I love the tone. I had a Mackie SWA 1501 before. This thing blows it out of the water all day long! Value: Great value! I was wation for the new Mackie HD1801 to come out but got sick of waiting for Mackie and bought this. Quality: The cabinet is as good as it gets. No doubt, it's built almost exactly like the PRX518S, which I've seen the inside. While it doesn't have any sound-absorbing filler, the box is heavily braced in all directions and the wide braces surely break up standing modes inside the box. One of the reasons I was willing to shell out a lot more money is the Differential Drive 18" speaker, which I think is far superior to the 518's standard driver. The 718's DD driver has an ingenious voice coil design that breaks away from standard thinking and provides a design that allows WAY more Xmax (excursion) than typical drivers. While many drivers are rated for high wattage, once you pump that wattage into them, they bottom out. Not the 718's though...their design allows almost an inch of travel! Features: There's not much useful stuff you can add to a powered sub, so you need to look at the design. Overall, the JBL/Crown electronics are powerful and self-protecting, while the the bainet design is modern and attractive. The build quality is excellent, but then I'd expect that of a sub in this price range. Ease of Use: Super easy...plug it in, connect your ins & outs and thump! Sound: Besides the Differential Drive design that allows true high power and long travel, the 718 also has the deepest tone of any compact sub I've ever heard! Most subs play strong down to around 50Hz, then start dropping off. For most use, this is fine and sounds good. The 518's are this way...they sound great and punch well. The 718's are even better! They are a little louder, just as punchy and reach a little deeper down (about 15 more Hz, which is a lot in this range). In fact, I was doing a DJ gig the other night and noticed a distinct difference playing some popular new HipHop songs with synthesized bass tones that are WAY low. With the 518's, the same bass tones are a little thinner. That's not saying the 518's are thin-sounding; it's just the 718's play low notes other subs can't touch. And they don't bottom out while doing it! Overall, the 718's are the smoothest, deepest-reaching, punchiest compact subs I've ever heard. Value: I sold a pair of PRX518's to start investing in the 718's. The price difference is pretty big, but there's a noticeable difference between the two.Overall, the price is high, but it's arguably the best powered sub on the market.
