Good amp, but it's not a SLO100
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Yes .... well made.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
The amp has been 'reliable' for the month I have owned it. I have some concerns about the longevity of the power tube retainers... the springs and clips are cheesy.

Your general opinion of this product.
Overall, the amp is reasonably built, sounds good and is a good value for the $$$. The effects loop is LINE LEVEL which means that stompboxes that are intended to be operated at instrument level will sound terrible. Rack gear will work great, but your pedalboard effects may suffer if you run them through the fx loop.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The EQ is very, very responsive. The depth mod adds a nice low-end presence. The gain control on the crunch channel allows for a bit of growl when dimed. Nice for AC/DC and classic rock tones. The overdrive channel has loads of usable gain - I find that I use less gain on this amp than on my peavey 6505+. Not sure why - but it may have to do with the harmonic content of the signal.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The stock tubes were a bit bright for me.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
No construction flaws that I could find.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Stock tubes were OK, but a little trebly. I put a tung-sol in P1, a couple of new sensor mullard reissues in P2-P3 and a couple of EH's in P4-P5. Much more balanced sound.

Seems solid... This one is new to me, but I've had a Jet City 20W head for at least 6 months without issue. It seems like it's built great. Weighs a ton.

Great price, but way too much amp.

It's crunchy, and it's crunchier. You can finesse it to get it to clean up somewhat. But certainly not clean-clean. And it doesn't get dual rectifier distorted. With some help from stomp boxes you can get some metal tones. But pretty much it's a middle of the road rockin overdrive amp.

I would add that the 50W head would have suited me better. That's me personally. I'll never use the 100W setting (No one in their right mind will either). The low price, along with the looks, and my prior positive experience with the Jet City 20W head persuaded me to buy the JCA100HDM. If I was to do it over again, I would buy the 50W head. I'm not impressed by the depth mod at all. |

Single blue LED reflects off the tubes. Pretty cool. Jet City should make that their "look" on all their amps. |
