Overall Rating
Playability and Feel
Your general opinion of this product.
Nice little tube amp. Kustom isn't lying when they say you'll be surprised by the volume it can produce. A couple small finish/quality issues but they don't affect the operation of the amp.
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Owned it for about a week now so no long term results. The covering where it is glued down inside the amp is peeling up in a few places but that's what glue is for. No biggie but found it weird/creepy that the EL84 has a fingerprint on it. Also, the springs for the retainer plate for the EL84 vibrate against the tube on certain notes. A wider plate would have solved the issue.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The tone is nice. I play (mainly blues) with the volume on the amp all the way up and use my guitar volume as a master. With the original 12AXY and EL84 I could turn the volume all the way up and still get a real clean tone; needed an overdrive pedal to break it up. I replaced both original generic Chinese made tubes with an E-H EL84 and a JJ 5751 and now it starts to break up on it's own with the volume at a reasonable level.
How was the action out of the box?
How did the stain or paint job look?
Nicely put together. Not too flashy, not too dull. There were the covering issues as mentioned above but everything else looks good.
How has it stood up over time?
