| Good Beginner Ukulele |
| Quality |
| Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? |
| The neck looks straight, and all the mated edges look good, and it feels nice and solid. I expect it will last a good while. I'll be able to hand it down to my sons if they decide they want to play. |
|
| Reliability |
| How has it stood up over time? |
| I've only had it 3 weeks or so, so I can't speak for how well it will stand up over time, but it has withstood some enthusiastic strumming from a 21 month old. |
|
| Overall |
| Your general opinion of this product. |
| Overall, this is a very good ululele for someone just starting out with little or no experience with stringed instruments. Perhaps an experienced guitar player may want to start out one step higher on the rung, but overall, I'm very pleased with this. It arrived quickly and in good condition. |
|
| Playability and Feel |
| How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? |
| Feel is good, neck is smooth. The ends of a couple frets could stand a stroke or two from a file because they have a very very slight edge to them, only enough to barely feel. |
|
| Tone |
| Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? |
| I really like the tone. One string doesn't 'sing' quite as nicely as the others, but that could be the string. |
|
| Finish |
| How did the stain or paint job look? |
| There are a few spots where it looks like the spray on stain bubbled and a few spots that have the a texture that feels as if dust settled onto it while it was still drying. Neither of these two issues are bad, but they are there. |
|
| Action |
| How was the action out of the box? |
| I believe I will need to get the action worked on. The saddle looks a good bit high and all fretted notes are a bit sharp. I would have hoped it would be a bit better than this, but at the price point I'm not complaining too much. The nut seems just slightly off center, as the A string is a tad closer to the edge of the fretboard than the G string. Barely. NO buzzing anywhere on any string or fret. |
