The Natural Koa Concert Ukulele displays Lanikai’s commitment to tradition by crafting this line with solid koa tops and koa back and sides. The NKC Concert features a mahogany neck, die cast tuners, abalone binding, koa headstock overlay, and comes equipped with Aquila strings.

The long-established use of koa on ukuleles is no accident, the tones produced by this wood is synonymous with the ukulele itself, says Drew Lewis, Product Manager. Nothing sounds or looks like koa, he added.

The sound is crisp and clear.It has a beautiful tone;not at all tinny or flat.The solid koa is gorgeous. the finish is high gloss which may be a turn off for some but I really like it.it suits this uke just fine.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I love the feel of this ukelele.It feels substantial.Not at all flimsy. The neck is straight.No problem with the fretting.Strings are aquilla nylgut and just right.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Love the tone.I couldn't believe how rich and clear it was.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish is high gloss.The grain of the solid koa wood is just beautiful.This uke is prettier in person.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
I am a novice so I don't know if I can comment on action.I have played guitar though.So I have to say that I can't detect any problem whatsoever with playability.In fact,it's hard to put down.
