Playability and Feel
This is the one for me!
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I am beside myself. This thing is amazing! This is the first Laney I've ever played through and I'm sold on it...I have been missing out all these years!! There is no doubt this amp is built to last...Very well made!
How has it stood up over time?
We'll see but I don't anticipate problems.
Your general opinion of this product.
I hate to compare this amp to an AC30 or a good Fender because if you're loaded you may as well own them all...but this amp is more enjoyable to me to play on than most amps I've ever had the pleasure of plugging into. Of course this is subjective to what you like to play and what extra stuff your run through your rig. I think if you're a total metal head (which I respect fully!) maybe the Ironheart series is a better choice for you. But if you like good clean tone to good classic rock tone, this is one of the best amps I've heard. I have a Standard SG w/ P90's that sounds better than any SG/amp combo I've ever tried to put together...I am actually shocked I got this guitar to sound this good!
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Feels beautiful when it's really loud!
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
You can tweak your tone for days on this thing! You have a 3band eq but then a seperate tone knob to dial even more. Makes my Strat sound just a little rounder and warmer than my Deluxe did...and the SG sounds fatter than I ever would have thought I could get an SG to sound like. Very responsive and still gets great tube tone at a pretty low volume while it still gets plenty loud. I know I will still tweak stuff and experiment with pedals through this but I've been chasing this tone thing forever and this amp feels like the first time I've ever gotten close to having the tone I hear in my head coming out of speakers. But again...subjective. Very few guitar players could trash this amp with a straight face.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Lovely vintage vibe.
How was the action out of the box?
Ready to go....
