Cabs and Mics
PODXT Pro features 22 models of the most historic speaker cabinets ever built. From modern to vintage, you'll have the ultimate collection. And it doesn’t stop there. PODXT Pro has Line 6's newest-generation A.I.R. II cabinet/microphone modeling which allows you to choose from 4 different classic mic models and even adjust the position of the mic and how much of the room you hear. PODXT Pro's ability to mix and match speakers cabinets and mics will help you find the vibe that you're looking for.

Your Signature Tone
While the presets, many of which are song based, are a great place to start looking for a great tone, sometimes you just want to roll your own. Critical tone controls are available as knobs on the main panel, but PODXT Pro also offers an intuitive, incredibly easy to use screen display for deep patch editing, where any tone shaping parameter is easily accessed and changed to generate your own sonic character.

Above the PODXT Pro's display you'll find 5 effect on/off buttons where you can instantaneously defeat or enable stompboxes or rack-type effects. Double pressing each button allows you to edit the effects settings. Single pressing seamlessly switches the effect on or off.

Editing Tools

  • Comp (Gate): COMPRESSOR (Studio Compressor and Noise Gate)
  • Stomp: STOMPBOXES (Fuzz, Overdrive, Distortion, pedal Compressor, Auto-Swell, Auto-Wah)
  • Mod: MODULATION (Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Rotary and Vibe effects)
  • Delay: DELAY (Analog, Tape, Multi-Head, Sweep Echo, Digital, Stereo, Ping-Pong, Reverse delays) plus REVERB (Spring, Room, Hall, Chamber, Plate, Cavern)

Comp (Gate)
This button accesses our model of a highly sought-after LA-2A COMPRESSOR, as well as a lightning-fast NOISE GATE. You'll find a fully-adjustable threshold for each, as well as a completely variable decay time for the gate. Stomp - This is where PODXT Pro's STOMPBOXES and vintage distortion models live. There are 10 classic stompboxes ranging from light overdrives, heavy distortions, and psychedelic 60's fuzzes. Whichever one you choose, you'll have complete control over the Drive, Gain and Tone knobs.

Mod
PODXT Pro comes with all the classic flavors of MODULATION like Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Rotary and Vibe. Chorus like Andy, flange like Eddie, vibe like Jimi... it's all there.

Delay
PODXT Pro has faithful models of vintage tape echoes to modern marvels like tap-tempo stereo ping-pongs. You can adjust the delay time in milliseconds or by any note value you choose. Just like the original POD, you can easily TAP in a song's tempo, and now you also have tap tempo control over modulation speeds. Imagine changing the speed of your tremolo along with your delay time right from the front panel - or via your foot using the optional FBV Shortboard.

Cab / AIR
To top it off you can mix and match speaker cabinets, microphones (and even mic placement!) in the CABINET section. PODXT Pro's next generation speaker cabinet models include all the historic speaker types you've come to know and love. You'll swear you're hearing the paint rattle off the studio walls thanks to Line 6's all new A.I.R. II technology.

plus REVERB
PODXT Pro gives you a full-time reverb knob just like your old standby. But in addition to the authentic spring tanks, you now have everything from vintage Plate reverbs to cavernous Halls.

Ins and Outs
PODXT Pro has some of the most advanced analog and digital routing options ever put in two-spaces. If you remember the days of moving an 18-space rack with gear that always broke, hummed like a lawnmower, and cost more than your car, PODXT Pro will seem like a dream sent down by the tone gods. Our 24-bit converters (and 32-bit floating-point processing) create a killer tone, delivered through +4dBu balanced or -10dBV unbalanced 1/4-inch connectors. Or go digital with PODXT Pro’s AES/EBU, S/PDIF, or USB digital audio ins and outs for the most incredible tone available. MIDI lets you automate every move and our optional FBV generation foot controllers let you do it all with your feet. PODXT Pro also comes with a high-power headphone output for silent jamming.

  • 24-bit A/D and D/A Converters
  • MIDI In, Out/Thru
  • RJ-45 Foot Controller Connector
  • USB Connector for Digital I/O
  • Headphone Output
  • Guitar Input
  • 24-bit/96k digital ins and outs (AES/EBU & S/PDIF)
  • TRS Line Input and Unprocessed Guitar Output
  • Stereo XLR Live/Studio Direct Ins/Outs (+4dBu/-10dBv)
  • Stereo 1/4 inch -10dBv outputs
  • Stereo Programmable Effects Loop (Series or Parallel)

ReAmping
Using the ANALOG REAMPING INPUT/OUTPUT connections, you can send a dry unprocessed guitar signal to your recording device and send it right back into the PODXT Pro. Why is this so cool? Well, now you can go back at any time and change the entire sound of the guitar track you recorded. How many times have you recorded a track where you wanted to just pull back the drive on a stompbox, or add a little more spring reverb? Now you can! If you're really into experimenting with sounds, try sending other tracks like vocals, keys, or bass tracks through the Line Level Input jack! If you're really sneaky, you can also do this digitally with PODXT Pro's AES/EBU, S/PDIF, or USB connections.

Stereo Effects Loop
Even though PODXT Pro has more stompbox and studio effects than you can shake a stick at, we've decided to give you some extra rope and thrown in a programmable effects loop. Now you can run your old rackmount effects processors in series or parallel.

Unbalanced Analog Out
These 1/4-inch outputs can be run in Studio or Live mode. In Studio mode, they're ready to plug into a recorder with unbalanced -10dBV inputs. In Live mode, they don't have speaker simulation, and are ready for connection to an onstage amp.

Balanced Analog Out
These balanced XLR outputs can be run in Studio or Live mode. In Studio mode, they're ready to plug into a recorder with balanced +4dBu inputs. In Live mode, they send -10dBV signals to the P.A. or house system.

AES/EBU & S/PDIF Inputs and Outputs
These jacks can send and receive digital audio signals in any combination of 16, 20, or 24-bits with 44.1, 48, 88.2 or 96KHz sampling rates. PODXT Pro uses its internal clock to generate the sample rate you choose, or you can sync to the signal you send it from your digital system.

USB Port
PODXT Pro's USB driver software allows direct digital recording to your Mac or PC, plus the ability to play back audio from your computer like a soundcard.

MIDI
For those of you who still have MIDI chops, the PODXT Pro lets you control everything via MIDI. You can select any PODXT Pro Channel and automate any PODXT Pro parameter. Come on, we dare you.

Pedal
PODXT Pro has a couple of foot control options that make getting great guitar tracks even easier. Our FBV and FBV Shortboard allow you to select different patches, tap in your effect speeds/times/tempos, and kick in the tuner. Plus, both foot controllers give you a Volume and Wah pedal. This same jack also sends power to the FBV and FBV Shortboard.

Chromatic Tuner
PODXT Pro’s built-in Chromatic Tuner offers precision tuning at the touch of a button. Audio Mute or Bypass options with an adjustable tuning reference are featured as well as hands-free operation when used with the FBV series foot controllers.

Subject:A much improved Pod Pro - just XT it !
Overall: I was not very impressed with the first generation Pod Pro. The sound quality was just OK and the control interface left a lot to be desired. I bought this for backup/practice and figured Line 6 had made significant improvements. Then my *expensive* vintage tube preamp died. I got the brand new Pod Pro XT online with only 20 minutes to finalize ten working patches before its first gig. It worked extremely well and even better with more time to refine the presets. Sounds impressive!

QUALITY:
Built like a tank, looks awesome in my rack - physically there's not much that could improve.

FEATURES:
The features get a 10, but the USB output seems a bit noisy and for some reason - and it tracks faster than my other preamps and AD converters, so I have to manually move the track after I record with it. That's not a problem, just kinda annoying. Could just be my set up. Download the newest software on the line6 site before you save anything, otherwise you'll loose your presets. The software adds a few new models, and a very subtle parametric eq, but it helps.

EASE OF USE:
Very easy to controll from the front pannel. I'm using a MIDI foot controller, the presets in the unit are hex numbers, and the base 10 conversion chart in the manual is one number off.. Makes for a bit of confusion, but I'm sure it's a cakewalk with the line 6 foot controllers. Actually, I think that problem was resolved when I downloaded the new s
